I feel like Steven Universe was kind of the peak of that whole wave of 2010s animation. Adventure Time started it, and even Regular Show helped expand people's perceptions of what cartoons could be, but then Steven Universe added a lot more depth and the worldbuilding actually went somewhere (even though many people would complain about how much silly time there is treading water between plot developments). Other cartoons that focused more on the building their ongoing plot didn't get as much time to breathe and could have issues with being overserious. Other cartoons that went sillier didn't really crest that amount of plot, even if they were still very fun (like OK KO).And after Steven Universe finally ended, a lot of the rest dried up as well. Mao Mao didn't get a chance to keep building, Cartoon Network as a whole went on indefinite pause/internal corporate dissolution (maybe it may come out of that?). Disney seemed to back away from heavier narrative cartoons even though it had some promise. Netflix sometimes puts out something okay, but streaming seems calibrated against longrunning shows. Some indie animation is working to fill the space, but it's not quite there yet. Although some of my pessimism is just from how I've fallen off from checking out a lot of newer shows.
I'm tired of handsome Peter...
>>154074474Already did a few years back. The first few seasons were nostalgic but it quickly devolves into being completely retarded like the comic books. As soon as they start establishing other dimensions, I completely lost interest.

>>154074455Peter's character design gets funnier and more charming when you remember he's wearing glasses yet despite that when he's not wearing glasses it's pretty noticeable and unnatural
