They also often have the best arcs when they go from asshole -> good/normal.Also abusive characters in stories aren't the same as abusive people in real life. By virtue of being in a story it's usually implied that they'll either become a better person, or they'll be punished if they refuse to change. All of the characters you listed probably fall into one of those two categories. Real life abusers are a lot messier and darker, they often get away with their actions indefinitely.
