I fucking love Skeletor
>>154088813He was an absolute highlight. I like that they managed to properly balance him being a serious, pure evil threat and him being a fruity diva. Shame the movie is probably going to bomb because it was a lot better than I could've possibly expected.
how come people can fall in love with villains to the point that they are the highlight of the story?
>>154088813does leto go nyeheheheheheh in it
>>154088871I don't understand the question. Are you asking how someone can like an antagonist? You can acknowledge a bad guy is an irredeemable piece of shit, and still find them entertaining. I swear modern audiences are so damn narcissistic they have to self-insert into every plot
>>154088952He goes nyehehehehehe a lot in it.
>>154088952It's part of his laugh. When he starts or winds down a chuckle, you can hear it. And he has his insults too>"You petulant pathetic pissants! I want that sword! It's mine...Mine. Minemineminemine! And I shall have it!"
Wait, Skeletor is actually good in the new movie?
>>154088976It's more so that Skeletor is often more discussed when it comes to He-Man than He-Man himself, and seems to be more beloved than whatever protagonists there are.
>>154089049Yes but Skeletor is so charismatic that it's hard to ruin him
>>154089049No, no, he's still quite evil.
>>154089098Oh that's always been true for every incarnation of MOTU. Not uncommon for fiction either. For example Decepticons are more popular than Autobots, same can be said for COBRA over GI JOE
>>154089049Leto is a weird fucking guy BUT Skeletor is also a weird fucking guy. In a way, it's perfect casting. I'm thinking the problem with Leto in his previous roles is that they keep giving him serious characters to play when the dude should be playing unserious villains more often.
Choose your Skeletor alt outfit
>>154089182I guess it's the banter
>>154089099>is so charismatic that it's hard to ruin himThat's what people used to say about the Joker and look how that turned out (not only Suicide Squad but also Joker 2). We should realize we got lucky and that Travis Knight's ability as director should be respected, since, he was good enough to even salvage Leto's acting career. Anyone can botch up an iconic villain if they try hard enough. Never assume thing will turn out alright.
>>154089283I don't want to exaggerate but Jared Leto's Skeletor is akin to RDJ's Iron Man in terms of a character flipping public perception of an actor
>>154089283Enough with the revisionism. Normies fucking loved Leto Joker and Suicide Squad was a huge hit despite the mainstream media was literally begging the audience to watch Fembuster instead. I agree about Joker 2 though
>>154089340>Normies fucking loved Leto Joker....To laugh at how absurd it was. No one LIKED what they tried to do.>Suicide Squad was a huge hitBecause literally nothing was competing with it that August
>>154089340The Jared leto hate train is just deranged lefties. Dudes in a ton of classics and like 90% of actors are "box office poison" the past fifteen years
>>154089203I need a Skeletor gym bro webm
>>154089312Jonkler was bad but it wasn't the actual nail in the coffin for Leto. It was fucking Morbius that caused things to spiral out of control for the guy's reputation. Sony's direction for it was the main issue (a Spider man movie without Spiderman will always be stupid) but Leto's become punching bag because of the Morb meme. Things only got worse when Tron: Ares flopped too. That movie was supposed to be the big revival of Tron as a franchise. Tronfags were desperate for a win and they now blame Leto for essentially killing the franchise once and for all. When your involved in a flop of that magnitude and what an already bad reputation, Leto essentially became as notorious as Dobson for /co/. We can praise him for his work as Skeletor but he's never undoing his original cinema sins.
>>154088813I love fucking skeletor
Jared Leto can give actually worthy performances, he was good in the last Blade Runner, but he really needs a director that can tard wrangle his wort impulses to get anything workable
>>154089548Jared arguably wasn't the problem with Tron nor Morbius. He just got shit scripts
>>154088998>>154089019what about myah
Assuming this ever gets a sequel (which good luck), I hope Skeletor is reoccurring like the after credits scene implies. Like for example if they do Hordak later, I want Skeletor to swoop in and upstage him in the final act
It was a fun movie. I’ll admit I was a little worried during his life on Earth because I REALLY thought they were going to have his roommate tag along with him back to Eternia to fill the “quirky guy who comments on everything weird” role, but they thankfully didn’t go that direction. But the performances were good. Some scenes did drag on a bit too long and it felt like they tried way too hard to make the Fisto joke work when it wasn’t that funny to start with me. Pretty decent action scenes with the fight at Snake Mountain and Skeletor’s final fight standing out.Wasn’t perfect but definitely way better than I was expecting. They just needed to clean up the pacing a bit.
>>154089561t. Evil-Lyn
>>154089807I think she was oddly into the choking
>>154088813Him, Teela and Evil-Lynn were good. The rest was pretty crap. Too much self-deprecating humor and treating everything like a joke.
>>154089431>The Jared leto hate train is just deranged lefties.he is a fucking pedophile you stupid piece of shit
>>154089600You may be right for Morbius, but once Jared Leto became a producer on Ares the script got completely retooled to be a star vehicle for him
>>154090690What do you do with guys named Fisto and Ram Man? Though I do think Cringer should have been along for the adventure.
>>154088871The villain gets to be more over the top and cut loose and that tends to be more enjoyable. It's why playing a heel in wrestling is way easier than playing a babyface.
>>154088813I just saw it tonight. I loved it! It was incredibly cheesy and that's how it should be and for the first time Jared Leto was a delight
Spoilers but Skeletor highlights (practically all his scenes)>Projects himself on the night sky like an aurora borealis to call out He-Man>Throws a tantrum when he gets away, and has to pull himself back>"Look, I made mulch!" with Evil-Lyn gesturing everyone to laugh like their lives depended on it>Threatens to make a lackey into sausage >Admits to love cheating>The entire mindfuck sequence>"Okay let's talk! What do you want to talk about?"
>>154090645Yeah definitely. She was wet of how manly Skeletor was. Something, something, toxic masculinity
>>154089186Leto was fine in movies until they leaned into the Joker marketing and he decided he had to go over the top to follow in Heath Ledger's footsteps, because of all the hype surrounding how immersed Ledger got in the role. Leto's career in movies from like 98-2016 was all fairly well regarded roles or at least non-offensive. He was in Fight Club, he was in American Psycho, he was in Requiem for a Dream, a bunch of solid performances in both bit and as a lead. At least with the Skeletor role, he's been pretty reserved and quiet as far as I can tell.
>>154090693While right-wingers usually worship pedophiles, I don't remember Leto being a pedo. Maybe he fucked a teen girl considering all the sex he has but in the other hand, he could be so high that he didn't notice it
>>154090693>>154091902The mental illness epidemic needs to be addressed harder
>>154088813A lot of people in my theater didn't get the Dolph lundgren cameo
>>154091901Leto was another victim of Disney's demolition campaign against the DCEU. Not saying Leto is a saint but we're talking about an industry that embrace literal rapists and pedophiles.
>>154092024Probably they're late millennials and became He-Man fans with the 2002 show.
>>154092046but snyderslop was dogshit until zsjl , then snyder put the knightmare shit and then turned into dogshit too.
>>154089049Not really. Maybe I lack the knowledge to appreciate his performance but I didn't find him either threatening enough as a dark villain nor funny enough as saturday morning cartoon one. He's ... there.
Him living on normal earth felt so pointless for the story that It felt like it was just an excuse to put Skeletor in different outfits later on.
>>154092087Not enough quips for you?
>>154088813So when is the movie going to be hitting streaming?
>>154092131Probably some old exec thought that the best way to solve the generational gap between He-Man and zoomers was to make Adam grow on Earth so everything could be explained to him. I admit I was disappointed when I heard the movie started on Earth but at least it was relatively short and the screentime was used to establish Adam as a character. I'd prefer the all movie is set in Eternia but old execs rule Hollywood
>>154089431Jared Leto is Junk.
>Suicide Squad>the result of retarded Warner bros execs trying to introduce the Joker without Batman>Morb>the result of retarded Sony execs trying to compete with MCU (the same guys who caused Amazing Spiderman to flop by the way)>Tron>Disney had been trying to find ways to kill it for ages now. Leto being a producer was one thing but he was also set up considering Disney did zero marketing or hire a competent director for the film (tldr Joachim Ronning was the guy behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Ded Men Tell no Tales and Maleficent Mistress of evil; Disney sent in a known franchise killer to do the job)Basically all of Leto's bad films are the result of executive meddling. Wtf is his agent doing getting him into so many doomed roles?
>>154092200He's fine. Not bad or great
>>154092131>>154092198We needed an audience vessel. Having him grow up on Eternia but be missing for 15 years is a great compromise because it establishes he already knows a lot about the world but needs brought up to speed for stuff he missed. Having him always on Eternia but fed exposition would have made Adam look incredibly stupid, begging the question why people are talking about these things at all. The worse option would have been him always growing up on Earth and being sent away as a baby, that would have been awful. But the other purpose of his exodus was to show how much Eternia has suffered while he was away, and for Adam to learn new ways of social skills to temper his use of The Power
>>154092223See >>154089340
>>154091902>>154090693Go back to fucking reddit and /pol/.
>>154092223Don't forget the Haunted Mansion 2023
>>154088813The glowing red eyes grew on me. They add a lot of personality in motion and the empty eye sockets wouldn't have worked as well as the cartoon.
>>154092192Considering the box office performance, very soon
>>154092816It's doing that bad?
>>154088976I'm narcissistic and I self insert into Skeletor
>>154092926Unfortunately yeah. He-Man's biggest market is Latin America but latino zoomers fucking love Scary Movie
>>154092982Fuck. Yeah it was not a good idea to release it so close to that one then. I completely forgot there was anything else coming out this week.
Do Skeletor and Evil-Lyn have any cute moments?
>>154093005They have tons of sexual tension, with Skeletor as the alpha male and Evil-lyn as his bitch
>>154093001No one could have predicted Obsession and Backrooms. But hey, they all fuck over Mando
>>154089098I mean maybe I'm wrong but it seems to always happen with franchises where the main character is a turbo generic, "I do good because it's good" type of guy. Meanwhile the villain is actually allowed to have a personality outside of their evil.
>>154093119>they all fuck over MandoOh right. Yeah that one is probably getting blown to pieces now. Theaters near me were already filtering it out for He-Man. Genuinely impressive how bad things all went for that franchise. If He-Man ends up beating it it'll be something no one would have predicted twenty years ago.
>>154093175Especially because He-Man born from Mattel butthurt over rejecting the SW toys license
>>154088813>t.evil lynnIn all seriousness it was so refreshing to see an unapologetic villain for once. Leto's performance as Skelly made for such an intoxicatingly infectious performance that he even manages to overpower the hamfisted SNL ""comedy"".
>>154089049He's BRILLIANT and practically carries large swaths of the film. If you're a Skeletor-loving casual you'll love Letotor. There's a reason amazon is selling bed sheets of him exclusively.
>>154089098Galtzine has his moments as He-man/Adam in this movie but alot of that good work is wasted by the constant push to make a buffoon of him . In broader terms however it seems most people find heroes boring these days. Not me though,I was always a sucker for boy scouts.
just left the kinoplex, this movie was so fun very refreshing to see a film that just wants to be a good time
>>154093769They do a perfect job of setting up a dual identity that they never use and make fun of at the end
>>154088813I can't believe he genuinely said it's skelettin time in an scene and it was played straight.
>>154093786The movie wanted to have it's cake and eat it too. There's several points where it seems at odds with itself, especially in the final battle. It really irks me how often they refused to just let the movie do it's thing. Again, cut out all the comedy and the movie immediately DRASTICALLY improves.
>>154093175>If He-Man ends up beating it it'll be something no one would have predicted twenty years ago. That a new release could beat something in its third week? Yeah, really impossible to imagine that.
>>154093857I think he means overall gross. But it's not going to happen, MOTU would need damn near Obssession tier legs to past Mandalorian.Honestly i feel kinda bad for it, we were selling out of the showings we had for it but it was only in a single theater where i work meanwhile Backrooms/Obssession/Scary Movie 6 were in 6/13 of our theaters..... also we put Digital Circus in our largest theater (i did the schedule and was kinda hoping it'd be a dud so we'd have at least one slow theater but it still fucking sold out) It's nice to see theaters doing so well though i guess wouldn't be too surprised to see this June match pre-covid junes like May did.
>>154089098He-Man has absolutely no personality other than "I am the hero and I will do the right thing because it is right to do the right thing".Skeletor has just as little nuance but at least Skeletor is funny.
>>154088813>I fucking love Skeletor ... n-no homo?
>>154088871In something as low stakes as a movie/cartoon about a toy, the villain has to be a little silly
>>154089418go to any comic con in the Midwest and count how many girl you see dressed as Sucide Squad Harley Quinn
>>154093005Several, yes. He grabs her arm or neck when he's frustrated and Brie does a great job acting like it turns her on a little, and then at the end when He Man's beating his ass, she just walks out on him like she would in the cartoon
>>154088813They made the movie woke. Won’t be watching.
>>154090690Teela's casting is acceptable. Flat chest, but canon Teela isn't exactly stacked either. Still like 80s movie Teela more looks-wise. This one looks wimpy.Evil-lyn is a big downgrade both in casting and in looks though. Then again, I don't think current Hollywood even has anyone as striking as Foster.
>>154097629>I won't watch it! Its woke!>first 20 minutes of the movies establishes the biggest impediment to Adam's professional advancement is having to talk to his rainbow hair coworkers and androgynous black boss in HR speakeven if the movie was woke, you're still a bitchmade faggot
>>154096869>69Nice, also yes homo
>>15409317520 years ago, before the Disney buy-out? No. But people have been predicting Star Wars was going to go rotten and slide downhill to irrelevenve for 8-10 years.
>>154091901Requiem for a Dream was the only standout role he had otherwise, his parts in Fight Club and American Psycho were basically just bit parts even if those movies were good.
>>154092166You can dislike MCUslop and Snyderslop you know, it's not like they're the only types of movies that exist.
>>154090690>Teela wears trousers>Adam wears a miniskirt
>>154097775Evil-Lyn looks like outright trash. She looks like somebody's mom who was convinced to cosplay.
>>154099320>She looks like somebody's mom who was convinced to cosplay. That's hot, though.
>>154089340You're into something, but not quite there. Leto Joker was ruined by the script. The movie itself is not great, but you just could tell the whole story without throwing there the Joker. It's not that Leto was a lousy Joker, but an irrelevant Joker.Joker 2 is shit and proof that no character can run only on charisma.
>>154093786>>154093828I will say that while the film pokes fun at the names Adam came up with when he was ten, and the "secret" identity bit, the Masters never criticize Adam for it. In fact by the end, they all find it really endearing, and accept the nicknames nor do they confront Adam on his shenanigans>"Nah.....let him do his thing"Because they respect him and he saved their entire world
>>154097516Nice goalpost move
>>154088813They even made him look like a plastic figure this time
Could Trap Jaw come back? Beast Man and Tri Klops are probably fine. Should they bring in Mer Man?
>>154099069Yes that's what I mean. The idea of the franchises having movies that were even in the same ball park back in the late nineties or early two thousands would sound ridiculous. Initially when He-Man came out and and at its highest points maybe toy wise, but afterwards just sounded like a pipe dream. That they could even be remotely be near each other speaks volumes of where Star Wars is now.
What would you do if you woke up an saw live-action Orko at the end of your bed
>>154101455>unzips dick
>>154090693literally all of Hollywood and our billionaires and government is, either hate them all or fuck off
>>154098715heck, even his boss, who tries to be as HR friendly as possible, realizes she can't run the company with all these dumb rules holding her back in dealing with Adam. You can tell she just wants to scream "Shut up and do your work you pathetic excuse of a man!"
>>154101455he was the worst special effect in the movie, no wonder he was only a post credit cameo. He looks straight up cartoon-cgi.
>>154100715They did alot right in the end even inspite of the shitty humor. I was especially thankful that Adam finally got around to kicking Skeletor's ass even after Sorceress' "muh empathy" speech.
>>154101646Well that's the key thing there; The Sorceress chose Adam because he knows WHEN to unleash The Power. Tempering, restraint, which makes him worthy. We saw what happens when Adam misuses The Power, it cost him Randor's life. In the end he gave Skeletor every mercy he could before being certain that it was okay to cut loose.
>>154089203As soon as the date sequence started I immediately thought his date is going to turn into skeletor and they didn't disappoint me.
>>154102195I thought we were about to get Skeletor in drag with a wig and dress but instead we got Skele CHAD in a suit like he just walked in and took Adam's date
You know it might have a decent weekend due to word of mouth. The usual suspects (Drinker, Mauler, Nerdrotic, RLM) pretty much all gave it good buzz. Not sure how much that audience matters, but we'll see. Hell I could see Amazon shelling out the cash to continue it
>>154101892Exactly. Totally saved the movie for me. Had it gone any other way He-man would have been reduced to steven universe.
>>154101455>>154101616I thought he was cute and realized well. It really is a shame the movie fumbled because I liked how they handled alot of the major cast, I'd have wanted to see the rest of them.
>>154101204Trap-Jaw could comeback with a significant enough redesign, either that or swap him out for another evil warrior like Saurod or Stinkor. Ditto on Beast Man and Tri Klops. Mer-man would be fun too though. Frankly I still dont buy Moss-Man's death. I could see him coming back with a redesign too.
>>154101533>literally all of Hollywood and our billionaires and government is, either hate them all or fuck offI'll hate the ones who are outed dip shit. Go take a fat cock to your ass faggot. Shut your mouth even piss baby.
Jared Leto, pedophile, is Skeletor. Box office poison. Evil people in power know you rather forgive pedophiles who are stuck in your childhood's nostalgia because you're all faggots. You deserve to be bullied and shit on.
>>154102398One can only hope it gets that chance. A sequel devoid of ironic comedy would have much stronger legs. My only worry then would be their handle of She-ra, because I'd fully expect them to push her to the forefront while He-man is played as a dipshit again.
>>154102482So what did you do when the blue team was in power /pol/fag? Take your tantrum eslewhere.
>>154101616Hell. They should have cel shaded him and made him look like 2D animation.
>>154102513>So what did you do when the blue team was in power /pol/fag? Take your tantrum eslewhere. You're mentally ill and deserve bullets in your brain you stupid foreign agent. You really think normal people care what color team you're on? Kill yourself, today.
>>154089548Venom was a hitThey should have put Morbius in part 2 and then Kraven in part 3 or something Then they have to team up and fight Carnage or something
I rewatched those Awesome Skeletor after watching the movie and it is still amazing that Skeletor costume turned out. Like it's nearly as good as the movie's and it probably cost a fraction of a percent.
.... i want Roboto 34
>>154090860One joke about the characters would have been enough It was just too much
sex with skeletor
>>154088871Im going to beat you to death with a baseball bat and your family will celebrate me.
>>154102937
>>154088871Villains are nearly always the character that sets the plot in motion. It's fun watching a character that actually wants and does shit.
>>154102446Nobody gives a fuck about Miss Man in the main lore. That’s why he was chosen to die.
I bet you could do a fan edit of this, trim out a couple of the jokes, and this would be a lot stronger. Example being the coughing fit after they escape, or Ram Man and Fisto's war cries during the final battle. I'd keep stuff like Adam yelling at the crowd before getting on the ship though
>>154098834>Those glorious blue muscles. Why did it have to be Jared Leto?
lets see paul allens skeletor
>>154103117I'd also trim a lot of the earth stuff as wellThere's an edit that gets this under 2 hours and is a much better movie that's we'll see before this year's through
>>154104545>I'd also trim a lot of the earth stuff as wellI can run down what you can cut and splice edit to have scenes move along better. Lets see....>Cut down the weirdos at the comic shop. Might help with the pacing.>Cut the fat cops joke, just leave the first Highlander joke>Keep the HR stuff as it is relevant.>Cut the school flashback, Adam looking at the drawing is good enough>Do the roommate watching Soap Operas gag only once. >Perhaps keep the car pulling out bit as it ties in with the flying bike joke later, but I think it would still read either way considering its an alien vehicle so debatable. As far as what to cut from Eternia:>Man at Arms puking>Cut/Shorten Adams conversation with whatshername who shoves him into the locked room. The locker story seems more relevant in the motivational speech scene>Cut Fisto talking about how small the sword looks in his hand>Cut Ram Man and Fisto's battle cries in the final act>Cut the "Butt Worm" joke>Cut Adam waving at Man At Arms during the chase>Cut the coughing fit during the Mercury Song escape>Cut the peanut gallery chit chat while Teela/Man at Arms watch Adam fight Trap JawHow much would that help?
>>154102427There are a bunch of heroes left from the toy line with names as ridiculous as Ram Man. Imagine if they carried that gag forward with people Adam only meets in the sequel."You're Buzz-Off! .oO(I told you to go away when I was ten.)"
>>154102398>grouping RLM with the chud brigade that makes sure movies aren't woke
>>154104850I'd say it would help alot. Tightening up alot of the "natural" flubs from the intro would help alot too. Pitching in some more scenes worth cutting.>Axe the prison escape smoke cloud coughing gag>Axe the bulk of Duncan's quips and just focus on the sage advice bits>Cut the friendzoning of Adam completely>Cut away alot of Adam's fumbles in his initial fight with Trapjaw>Ditch the room mate joke from the end too if possible.
>>154105487I don’t agree with a lot of these. Teela and Adam very clearly like each other, just not something that should happen this fast. The setup is there. You also need the Trap Jaw fail to contrast Adam’s transformation. I’m wiling to keep the roommate bit because it’s totally something Adam would do and isn’t dragged out
So...can we say it's better than the Netflix version?
>>154105432I didn't say they were all equal. >>154105742That's not exactly a high bar, as someone else said. Though I will say that season 2 was better than 1 because of the Hordak stuff
>>154105742Depends on which one you mean. One of them isn't a high bar to clear. But the other one, the CG one, was pretty good.
>>154105742Yes. That's how bad smith's shitshow was. Hell I'd even argue the CGI series might have stood a chance if it released on the heels of this movie.>>154105615At the very least remove the part where she rebuffs him so bluntly. It's an awful scene. I can let the Trapjaw scramble stick, but the roommate is just awful.
>>154089182GIJoe is the only one I lean towards the Joe's more. At least for the toy commercial shows.
>>154102697>what a boner

>>154106680same. think they could do fun things with Hordak and She-Ra.
originally i read here that there was a scene where Adam returns to the HR office and puts the boss lady in her place.obviously that didnt happened, but it would be nice that at least alongside adam taking his roommate to eternia, we would had a scene of adam leaving the bosslady, and that Darryl guy some dangerous souvenir from eternia to scare her, with a 'consider THIS as my resignation' note or something.
>>154106680>>154106804I think a slow burn is possible but news articles are already calling it a financial bomb
>>154105839The CG one is so much better at freshening up the concept for a new audience and it's consistently as funny as this movie only thinks it is
>>154099320My own opinion but 1987 movie Evil -Lynn was better.
>>154102398Yeah but those RLM guys are like me: in their 40s old men. Of course we’d like the film. That’s not what needs to sustain this film. It needed lots of kids, teens and more female viewers, which is why it appears to be bombing.
I bet the sex is wild
>Skeletor physically abuses Evil-Lin multiple times >always hangs on her after he exits, as if she's gonna have a heel-turn>movie ends with her still very much evil and planning to revive SkeletorGreat movie, someone last thread compared it to I Saw the TV Glow and the Skeletor mind-fuck at the end really brought that home for me
>>154089049He's okay.
>>154107083>Skeletor abuses Evil-Lynoutside the last time where Skeketor goes too far its pretty clear from Allison Brie's reaction Evil-Lyn likes it. You can pretty much hear her pussy get wet the first time. It's pretty kinky.

>>154107493The film has>Tri-Klops>Beast Man>Spikor>That original old lady looking bad guy from the last live action movie>Goat Man>Moss Man>Fisto >Ram Man>Mekanek>Evil-Lyn (duh)>Trap Jaw>Roboto (Robata)Stratos's village is referenced at the end, and you can see Mer Man on a floor mural that's a map of Eternia's sea
>>154107550>RobotoHey, that's a cool inclusion. Thanks for the list. Plan on watching it this week but I'd figure I'd ask. Guess I should have expected some sequel material and ideas they'd hint at.
>>154107583Reason why I said Robota is they made it a chick.
>>154107887Yeah I kind of figured. Sort of like how the CG show did Ram Ma'am. Or Mosquitor I bet.
>>154107550>old lady looking guyHis name is Karg
>>154107459This is true. There’s only one time where she doesn’t like it. It’s clear she’s with him for a reason other than fear.
>>154102362>spoilerI'm actually divided on which one is better (though, I'm still happy about the one they went for)
>>154090690>Teela's huge assWhile never outright gratuitous, I'm surprised by the number of lingering shots that allowed us to just stare at Teela's butt.>>154097775>Evil-lyn is a big downgrade both in casting and in looks thoughThe worst part is that just a little goth makeup and a miniskirt would have done wonders.
>>154090690>Too much self-deprecating humorThank you! The worst part for me was the ending.
>>154088813They clearly leaned into the high on life 3D skeletor.
I think my only concern with a sequel is if Skeletor is resurrected by Evil-Lyn he'll be a talking head for the majority of the film, a weakened state where he's forced to fess up about Hordak. Not sure how he'd regain The Havoc Staff either. Basically while I'm interested in seeing Hordak and The Horde invade Eternia, I still want Skeletor to steal the show and usurp his former master
>>154108336I guess this all depends on whether She-Ra is going to be the focus of a sequel or if they'll go straight to a spin-off. If it's the former, then I can see two scenarios: the movie focuses on Hordak, with a post-credits scene showing Evil-Lyn resurrecting Skeletor for the third film; or the producers realize that Skeletor is what's carrying the film and bring him back from the start. In that case, I could see the story playing out much as you describe, with Skeletor remaining in a weakened state until the end of the movie, when he finally recovers his powers for the third one.
>>154101533I do hate them all though, what the fuck is even this post. Is this thread just a shill campaign for the movie? It clearly isn't working.
They really should have abandoned the whole gag of Adam giving everyone dumb names as a kid and just had Skeletor come up with the name He-Man. It seems like the kind of sarcastic but also really gay thing this version of the character would come up with to mock Adam.>>154101616I disagree. Cringer looked fine on his own but it was painfully clear that the actors were just interacting with thin air and he was CGed in after.
>>154108432>how dare people enjoy a movie I didn't like!fuck off back to /tv/
>>154108421Would it be Hordak or Horde Prime?
>>154109318Horde Prime is the greater force that gives Hordak his power.
She-ra was hot, but we'll get a real actor next time.
>>154109708Other IG pic that got saved
>>154108603>but it was painfully clear that the actors were just interacting with thin airNa, there was BTS video pieces showing a greensuit guy walking around with a green tiger head to represent Cringer/BC the whole time. He's definitely there doing the walk up to CG on set
>>154108188Going full mcu hella with small hints of harley quinn would have given that group, you know the one, more then enough reason to watch it and cosplay as evil-lyn
>>154088871Well, the rest of the movie was really bad.Really really really really really really really really really bad. It didn't know if it wanted to be Conan, Flash Gordon, "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" or what. All it knew was that (1) Skeletor should be fun, and (2) everyone involved in making the movie should apologize for the movie being a He-Man movie.
>>154090690>Too much self-deprecating humor and treating everything like a joke.Yes, but also inconsistent, which made things worse."Ram-Man!" "What did you just call me? Ram Man? That's not my name only a ridiculous 10-year old would think of a name like Ram Man! Now let's all go fight the very serious villains... Skeletor and Evil-Lyn."
>>154088851>jared LetoSkip
the more shills try to promote this shit in here, the more Im certain its absolute trash that I'll never pay a dime to see
>>154088813The most surprising part of the movie was the Leto actually did a good job.
>>154089431>likes Jared LetoTasteless faggot detected
>>154109917KEK
>>154110652So she's clearly gay.
>>154110948How much did he actually do? His voice was modulated so much it's hard to call it Leto anyway. Did he even do the physical performance?
>>154111265Probably did the mocap.
>sequelWent to the 10:00pm showing. Bought the ticket, got glared at like I'd done something wrong, manager had to come out and turn on the movie manually because I was the only one going to it. And because it's a 2+ hour long movie, and it was the last movie running in the theater, as I was leaving I realized that everyone had been required to stay until it was done even though they could've left a little earlier if I hadn't shown up.And as I sat there watching it, wincing at every "ha ha, can you believe we're doing something as cringeworthy as making a HE-MAN movie?!?" joke, I totally understood why nobody else bought a ticket. It's not the WORST movie I've seen, it had some decent moments, and a few good ideas, but holy shit what a misfiring self-contradicting hodgepodge it was.
>>154111281You can tell Knight wanted to make this love letter of a movie, and whatever additional writers amazon thrusted onto the project felt nothing but disdain and embarassmemt for it. I've said it everywhere for the last few days, but we were painfully close to a perfect movie. The humor completely sucks the air out of the room.
>>154110789I'm a lifelong MOTU fan, I saw it, I wish it were better. That's really the gist.
>>154107002People are angry about alot of things the movie got wrong, rightfully so, but I dont see anyone celebrating how perfectly they nailed Lyn and Skeletor's dynamic. I cant think of the last time we saw a villain couple in a movie that was this enthralling.
>>154112352It just felt like a whole bunch of half-realized ideas. You can't do "He-Man watches his dad die" in the same heartbeat you're doing bad Dad jokes about the character names. They SORTA wanted to do something with the whole "cartoon He-Man kept giving morals and lessons trying to make people into better people" schtick by making him a guy that worked in Human Resources... but they made no effort to make it a good example of Human Resources, just the "can you believe this shit?" stuff people hate, so of course Adam trying to use that power falls flat. Could've had him do an actually-decent pep talk that ACTUALLY dealt with issues the characters were dealing with, showcasing the power of empathy, but... naaaaah, just have the Sorceress say he's good at that and have him do a generic "I'm going to go out there and fight, who's with me?" speech. Too many "did you get that reference?" moments, undercutting any attempt at having actual heart. It was just all over the place. Reminded me of Ghostbusters 2016—not AS bad, but the same "would you just chill with the jokes and let the characters have a few moments to BE characters?" problem.Maybe too many cooks, maybe not.Damn shame.
>>154112818I'll give them credit for letting his father's death scene be dramatic and not having it punctuating it with a joke.
>>154108603I deadass thought he was gonna call him "He-Man" mockingly during the final battle, would have been very fitting.
>>154107887I had no idea that was Kristin Wiig until the credits, almost unrecognizable considering her usual roles
I'm a zoomer so should I watch some of Masters of the Universe before seeing the movie or is it a good standalone?
