The Tick
>Believes that good is good and bad is bad. Justice is true. No moral cynicism
>Completely selfless. Has no life outside of heroism and does so out of a sense of duty rather than a desire for fame or money
>A constant optimist. A symbol of hope. Makes friends with everyone and brings cheer
>Courage without Ego

The tick is a parody of super heroes but represents the ideal better than all but a handful of them.

It's only Die Fledermaus that is a shitty hero in The Tick. The rest of them are actually good guys.

I stand on my laurels that All Might was based on The Tick.

The Tick knows he exists in a cartoony world and chooses to do good in it.
>>
>>154110104
Doubtful. They are just both based on the same tropes. A lot of which were obviously popularized by Superman.
>>
>>154108636
Why a tick of all things, though?
>>
>>154110483
Because it's funny
>>
>>154110483
That's the joke. He's nothing like a tick. He's blue. He doesn't have tick-like powers. Ticks don't even have antenna.

Arthur also has very little similarity to a moth. And comparatively Die Fledermaus looks a lot more like a bat than Batman. It's all a joke.

I like that he is a good person and naive and dumb and a good person that helps people.
>>
>>154112510
The big difference is, early on Tick is told superheroes never, ever kill. And he's taken it to heart ever since.

This guy is a hero.
>>
>>154112510
The Tick's setting is comical and happy go lucky. Dredd is, as someone once pointed it out, a lawful good hero living in, and molded by, a grimdark setting where the only options are either cruel tyranny or bloody anarchy
>>
>>154108636
Better represented of parody superheroes than The Boys TV series.
>>
>>154118528
He's the apotheosis of cool.
>>
SPOON!!
>>
>>154110483
Ya see chum, sometimes ya gotta burrow into the dark, soft, squishy crevaces of crime's dirty ankles. Really dig into flesh of their lousy demeanor and suck out the pure liquid badness and honk it into the spittoon of justice!
>>
>>154126540
That's disgusting Tick...

It's not even like he needed to register a name and settled for what he could, somebody was already committed to a tick theme.
>>
>>154126610
Crime often is!
>>
You know, one of the things that really irks me in the intro for the cartoon is how the jazz scream and the head scream animation are slightly misaligned
>>
>>154122256
I always wanted to see a story where a Happy-go-lucky main character is put into a grimdark world like Bloodborne or Berserk and somehow comes out unchanged in their hope and optimism, done in a comical but genuine matter.
>>
>>154126896
That would be Wander Over Yonder, kind of.

That was Solraire's thing until he thought it would be a good idea to wear a parasite for a funny hat. Which is also something the Tick might do. It could be an episode's plot.
>>
>>154129572
Solaire actually does get his happy ending if you save him, too.
>>
>The Tick vs the Sane Hatter
>The Sane Hatter is a villain who does things that make perfect sense
>It's only natural that he wants to control the nigh-indestructible Tick
>He does so by building a mind control device and disguising it as a silly hat
>He goes to a carnival and he hands out free hats until the Tick comes up to him and asks for one
>Once under the Hatter's influence, the Tick goes on a crime spree, robbing banks
>The Hatter didn't know when the Tick would appear so he had to plant a mind control device in every hat, which was rather costly and now he needs to make his money back
>"It makes perfect sense when you think about it" Die Flandermaus comments
>tl;dr Tick's friends free him
>The Sane Hatter activates the rest of the silly hats, causing a crowd of children to appear and surround him like some kind of...wall of innocence
>The heroes can't attack the children, so instead they have to convince them to remove their own mind control hats
>The Sane Hatter manages to escape, stating that he only wanted the kids to buy him time
>After all it would be crazy to expect kids to kill superheroes

>>154129604
Do tell. I don't remember.
>>
>>154108636
I love this guy, just a bright blue beacon of HOPE!
>>
>>154117243
In what way? Sentinel did everything right and correct the heroes are misfits. He's only wrong in the sense he didn't believe the heroes or promote them to autobots.

Tick thread and no one posted Ashley?

>>
>>154135383
It is so far away from boring that the entire concept of boredom will seem like a bizarre folktale.

Well, heroism and wholesome community activites like visiting a REAL dinosaur dig site!
>>
>>154129814
Miyazaki confirmed in an interview that Solaire links the first flame in his own world if you save him, which I think is just about the ending he would've wanted the most.

Was picrel in any way inspired by Tick?
>>
>>154108636
You have to remember that The Tick was created at the height of 90s edge era. His joke is that he's an old-timey style super hero in a word where everyone is cynical, edgy, self-aware and using guns. To the point where in his world he's treated as insane.

What would happen if you unscrewed Sentinel's chin?
>>
>>154150505
There's only one, so it's probably structural and not a switch to make him gay or speak spanish. I bet his jaw hangs unsupported and he drools like he had a stroke.
>>
>>154150871
Jokes on you, it's just for show and doesn't screw into anything.
