Why don't we get gothic shows anymore? The 2000s had a lot of those like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Billy and Mandy, Invader Zim, Making Fiends, Growing Up Creepie, Edgar and Ellen, Ruby Gloom and many more.

>>154125776Because it was part of the emo trend that died out
>>154125776Kids TV became valuable in this era and had to be brought to heel for the WASP cultural agenda
>>154125776>Making FiendsYou should look up what happened with this for your answer
>>154129486Goth subculture was created by White Anglo-Saxons.
>>154127811so cool
>>154125776>>154130645
>>154125776>that wouldn't appeal to modern audiences, now get back to work on Velma
>>154129500Fuck Nickelodeon
>>154132657Looks pretty cool!
>>154132657Eh.72% Gothic . Seems more influenced by classic 0/90s horror movies than anything else
>>154135361What would've made it feel more Gothic in your eyes?
>>154125776>Why don't we get gothic shows anymore?Gen X liked goth more, thus more goth shows from them.
>>154125776What others said, goth/emo stuff isn't in fashion anymore and hasn't been for well over a decade. Kind of a shame, really, because we are really in need of cartoons with even a little more edge nowadays.
>>154136857Sad!
>>154125776Doesn't Hazbin Hotel count?
>>154139414Not at all.
>>154139414Yeah, it seems to have that goth vibe.
>>154125776Gaslight District?
>>154139414>>154139480Vivziepop is scene. The kind of shit you find at Hot Topic.
>>154136734Any themeing is based on three parts: Ambience, design, events.Ruby Gloom is pretty Gothic, buts thats mainly through the character designs. For Invader Zim it's the Ambience and story (though I'd put thay as more Alt than gothic)Doomies brings a good helping of Ambience through the background and the story is a classic Gothic adventure of find "evil thing now stop it". But it's the designs that are subtracting Gothic points for me.It clearly looks like it's taking pointers from the Hellboy comics but the round bodies of the humans kidma deflates it all. It's still nice looking and Gothic, but like I said, 72% Gothic
>>154139580Scene and AltSharp demon teeth for the characters
>>154139622Far more thorough criteria than I was expecting. Respect.
>>154136857>goth/emo stuff isn't in fashion anymore and hasn't been for well over a decadeI dunno, it feels like there's been a slight resurgence recently. Maybe not in cartoons but the Wednesday TV series seems popular, the Beetlejuice and Nosferatu movies, a new Cure album...
>>154125776Making Fiends was done so dirty...
>>154139504can't believe it took THIS long for it to be brought up in the thread
>>154142187To be fair, not even Glitch's regular fans remember it exists.
Because they're fucking shit you brainless cunt head shut up forever
>>154129501non sequitur
>>154142626Fuck off, troon
>>154140552That's mainly through popular fashion A number of modern goths aren't really a part of a niche off stream culture like it used to
>>154142187Using my >>154139622 postGlDt hits with all 7s for GothicHorrific AmbienceDesign for thsie that love the grotesque And a story of frightful fights and survivalExcellent!
>>154125776You can’t convince me cartoon critics hating on shows for being "gross" or "mean-spirited" didn’t contribute to why we’ll never have another dark humored kids show like Invader Zim or Billy and Mandy again. The only gothic shows that exist these days are hot topic teen pandering garbage like where said gothic aesthetic is forced like Hazbin Hotel.
>>154140552Yeah I think the goth just went into live action
>>154143885You’re giving cartoon critics way more importance than they actually have.It has more to do with companies not wanting something “risky”.
https://youtube.com/channel/UCVgk8RsRRIcT6UxQoU_Nz7wDoes the Forks With Spiky Hands count?
>>154125776I still can’t believe someone messed their toilet up over this show.
Really its only indie /co/ that still does this shit but its mostly adult orientated.
>>154147812What?
>>154142668Bringing up "WASP culture" was already a non sequitur.
>>154149784I don't have it but there's a screengrab from /co/ where someone admits to trying to make their own fiends using their toilet as a kid.
Fascinating discussion. I feel like I'm in the South Park episode about goths vs emos with no one knowing the difference.
>>154150737Exactly.
>>154149784>>154150706Here it is.This is part of one bigger screencap where anons confess the worst things they did as kids because of /co/ media.
>>154125776Off-Topic but does anyone remember a flash site about cursed muffins? My older sisters showed me the Making Fiends flash site and also a flash site about said muffins so I associate it with eachother. I remember there being a bunch of different muffins that you could click on and it would play a different video.
>>154150918https://youtu.be/1tcR19y7GPM
>>154150952Not that one, they were all animated
>>154150918>My older sisters showed me the Making Fiends flash site and also a flash site about said muffins so I associate it with eachotherBecause they were made by the same person! http://www.muffinfilms.com/
>>154125776What defines “goth”? Does it just mean having mild horror/macabre themes?
