Huh, I never realised that.
I know that color printing limitations and color theory resulted in lots of redheads in old comics, and a lot of villains with purple/green color schemes. But as for yellow and orange bald guys? There does seem to be surprisingly many of them, across media from lots of different decades. That's mildly interesting

Krillin and Aang aren't bald either.
They shave it because they're based on Chinese monks.
That's also why Krillin has those six dots. They're incense burns.

Bald is different from balding. Being bald just means you have no hair on your head.

Because the colour scheming has to be complementary. Think about what kind of impression a bald character wearing dark colours has on the viewer. There would be a starker contrast, and that often isn't something that you want for the impression of your character.

Think about bald *villain* characters in particular. Do they come with a lighter colour scheme?

Kingpin wears white
>>
>>154138065
Typically, but he can also wear black tuxedos. He wears suits to make sure you're thinking about him being a mafioso. Kingpin is a particularly interesting design though because of how comical but severe he has to be drawn. Big fat guy with a double chin but he's an actual threat.

Anyway, the point is that with a character like that when it comes to colour schemes you're carefully crafting his backgrounds and lighting to make sure there are the proper contrasts. Look at any random Kingpin page. I bet you shadow is doing a lot of work on that page.

This actually helps explain OP's question.

Yellow makes characters stand out more easily, and designing them as bald saves time and money on having to animate hair. It's a similar reasoning to why so many cartoon characters have four fingers.

That way you're left with a character who can be instantly memorable/iconic without the need for added accessories like hats/hairstyles for the animators to fret over.
