>>154136453I always found it bizarre that this is the one I've often seen people say was their favorite Cartoon Network show. I mean I get it was very popular, but Powerpuff Girls was basically THE moneymaker for Cartoon Network. It was so popular and profitable it even got a theatrical movie and even long after it ended, it got a shitty reboot purely for money reasons. That's why I've always been surprised Ed Edd n Eddy seems to be the one I most commonly see be considered people's favorite Cartoon Cartoon and not Powerpuff Girls. To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if Powerpuff is second place to the Eds in this.

EEnE was an extremely funny show, but the premise didn't lend itself to merch (they had a few video games). It can be very hard to quantify the reach of a show that can't make merch sales, especially next to a mechanizing behemoth like PPG. Honestly I'm surprised Dexter's Lab didn't have more toys than it did because the show was full of monsters and robots.

This show had a way with escalation of absurd comedy.
