This is why you see the 80s cartoons on various streaming services and Youtube, Hasbro outright owns them. They initially only though the IP name trademark lapsed (Most likely due to the Marvel Inhumans push) but it seems they've lost the trademarks or even copyrights to the characters/IP. We don't know the specifics, probably because Hasbro doesn't really want that public, but it seems worse than just losing the cartoon name. It's been 10 years since IDW attempted to use it so maybe they've sorted it out or they're trying to reacquire the trademarks, as seen in them naming the Armorizers Universe after the setting of Inhumanoids.
