Could someone explain to me the whole backstory about him as a frog and his deal with Fairy Godmother? Because I don't think the movie does a good job explaining it
>>154154177>Because I don't think the movie does a good job explaining itthe movie runs on stock, public domain, fairy tales because the average person needs no introduction to them in the first place9/10 people have at least heard of the princess and the frog, even if its only the title
>>154154177>original Princess and the Frog story had girl kiss frog and he turned out to be a prince>ergo, the Shrek version was likely just a normal talking frog who asked Fairy Godmother to turn him human when he kissed he woman he loved, with her asking for him for a favor in returnIt’s really not that hard to understand.

People exaggerate when they say 2 expanded the lore. It did expand it, but only a little
>>154154177The first movie doesn't really explain Lord Farquaad's motivations at all beyond him being power hungry, but not what that has to do with the fairytale creatures.
Harold is the only character in 2 who gets some backstory. We aren't told anything about the other characters
>>154154782>The first movie doesn't really explain Lord Farquaad's motivations at all beyond him being power hungryit doesnt tell you his backstory, but it tells you everything about his motivation>wants everything to be perfect>by extension, wants himself to be perfect>exceedingly vain, wants to be considered a king even by fairy tale logic because he is too self-important to pass up any boost to his own ego
