As silly as this question may seem, I'm referring specifically to references in scenes like the related photo. Mr. Potato Head made the sign of the cross during a tense moment in the first film. there must be other indications throughout the films, but I can't recall any right now.

Now, if they do indeed possess faith, what exactly would the relationship between soul and plastic be like? I don't have the mental capacity to speculate, but it would certainly be something never explored, and perhaps that's for the best.

Oh my god, do we have to do this "there is a pope in Cars" nonsense for every film

No, relax

Toy Story is literally stories made up by Andy and the toys he had as a kid and what he thought happens to them after he left them alone or gave them up.

I've always thought about this: if these toys spend their time reading magazines, watching TV, playing video games, and even using the internet, I don't think any belief system is particularly impossible. Woody and Bo Peep are probably quite old people were more religious back then

The real question is also whether these toys can have ideologies and political positions? Mr. Potato Head is probably conservative and has debated with Jessie about women's suffrage in Andy's room, and Pig seems to be a classical liberal.

I would say no. They acknowledge that they were manufactured in factories (like Al's Toy Barn), and not created by divine forces, but they are still personal and thinking beings. The main motivation for most of them is to serve and entertain children As he said>>154164478 idon't doubt that some of them may have read the Five Ways or even read the Bible.

In the first movie the Little Green Aliens from Pizza Planet live inside a vending machine and treat the mechanical claw like a supreme deity, and it looked like a cult, and what about that Mr. Potato Head cross sign?

I think they believe in God, yeah. A few characters through all the films have said his name if I recall correctly, especially when frustrated. They are just basically tiny versions of us with wants, beliefs and needs. Only difference is that they are toys and want people to play with them because that's their purpose.

I will say though this is an interesting question because it seems as if they have souls. Do they go to heaven? Hell? What if humans DID become aware of toys being alive, would it cause issues with religion there? If there is reincarnation in this universe, can you come back as a toy? Or vice versa?

How do their instincts to play dead work when humans walk in? It's obvious they can break the rule, Woody did it to Sid in Toy Story 1. Is it programmed in? How do toys gain their sentience? Is it when their made? Does God create a soul for them right then?

Great questions, anon. And yes, I also believe that they may have some belief system, who knows, maybe other religions besides Christianity? And would that depend on the country or family they were raised in, or could a toy be attracted to Islam or Buddhism, for example? We're going too far.
>Does God create a soul for them right then?
Well, there's that theory that toys gain "life" after being loved by a child, or do they receive a soul the moment they are created? There's also the question of ethics and morality why be moral if you're a toy?

>The real question is also whether these toys can have ideologies and political positions?
The Bookworm from 3 was disgusted at the sight of "Ken" wearing high heels so I'd say yeah.

I won't delve too deeply into this issue, but regarding Mr. Potato Head, in the official audio commentary on the 1995 DVD, the directors and screenwriters confirmed the animation and that, yes, Mr. Potato Head is officially Catholic. I'm not even kidding. But whether it was just an inside joke among the animators or a real personality trait, they never fully detailed it, but it's intentional.

Bo Peep became a feminist due to external influence. He probably read feminist pamphlets and Metoo articles and concluded that Andy's imaginative play was a form of sexism.

So he's even more based than I imagined? He gets genuinely emotional and fulfilled when Mrs. Potato Head is given to Andy, following a strong family value and the desire for a traditional married life. Gigachad

What if their souls were born from "Affection" and "Imagination"? Unlike humans, who are born with a soul, toys seem to receive a soul through the projection of the human mind. Be that as it may, I don't think it would be impossible for them to possess a soul because they are so similar to humans that they can feel malice, love, envy, hatred, and even depression.

How would toys cope with living under a Chris Chan-tier autist? Would they find him terrifying but also their 24/7 lolcow? Would they A-log him if they had internet access? What if they were cut off from the internet and outside world? Would they see him as a mad god?
>>
>>154165647
In this universe, they use the internet, so it's very likely they've already seen some anomalies like this.
