I recently read A Garden of Spheres and really enjoyed it. Linnea Sterte is probably my favorite recent comics creator.Which recent comics (from the last 5-7 years) have you cunts been enjoying? Capes, Euro comics, webcomics, anything under the sequential art medium.
Here are my favorites of the decade so far.
>>154168188The art looks cool, what's it about?
>>154169232It's a fantasy story about a world in which people, humanoid gods, demi-gods, and dragons coexist, occasionally making war. Pretty basic, but the way it's presented, with minimal details and dialogue slowly unraveling how the world functions, the unique alienness, interesting and visually spectacular fantasy concepts etc. make it great to me.It reminds me of the work of Moebius, Hayao Miyazaki, Daisuke Igarashi, and Decadence Comics with the gorgeous scenery porn and how it captures nature and wonder like little else. Now, it definitely has tumblrite sensibilities (a race of people with artfully-manifested vitiligo, androgynous women) but it doesn't make me enjoy it any less. It's actually quite fitting here, but if that sort of stuff bothers you, you may want to pass.
>>154169500Sounds gay.
>>154169888Checked. You're probably right.
>>154169500you fags will see the most beautiful fucking art imaginable and be like "the chicks have rights in this so it's gay tumblr-y SJW shit sorry"what the fuck? why are you here?
>>154170075>but it doesn't make me enjoy it any lessRead, nigga, read. I love this book. This was meant as a courtesy to my fellow /co/bros, some of whom I know won't appreciate it.You also didn't address the question in the OP. Which recent comics have you enjoyed?
>>154168188nothing
>>154169500I took a look at the first volume. Seems nice. Definitely something to admire in slow contemplation instead of speed reading. Here's a brief excerpt.
And that's a wrap for this segment. Nice scenic work. Deceptively simple and clean art.
>>154170711looks interesting. Hindu-ish.
>>154168832what's "sunday"I can't really quite search "sunday comic"
>>154170711Thanks for that.>>154170734I see it.>>154170763Sunday by Olivier Schrauwen. The whole comic covers a relatively uneventful Sunday of this clever retard named Thibault Schrauwen, the writer's cousin (most of Olivier Schrauwen's comics are fictional, sometimes fantastical, tales about him or his family members, past, present, and far future), but also dips into the lives of related characters on that day, as well as memories. It aims to make an entertainment out of total boredom, among other things. Plenty of formalist playfulness, if you're into that stuff.
>>154170946Doesn't look like my cup of teayou might enjoy https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/Ordinary-Victories
oh wait the entire site got yeeted
>>154170956Thanks. I'm already a fan of Manu Larcenet, though I haven't read his recent adaptation comics.
>>154168188>Linnea SterteShe draws pretty but she isn't even a good storyteller, and especially not a good writer. I just read World Heist and it's a cool concept but she makes it really boring and most of the dialogue is just gibberish to fill up the page and seem "otherworldly", at times the action is hard to follow too so she's not a good storyteller.
Nobody's going to talk about recent comics they liked?>>154171024World Heist is my least favorite of her comics, but there's no gibberish. It should have been colorized. It seems like it belongs to the same world/universe as A Garden of Spheres, possibly Stages of Rot too, but I'll have to revisit that one.A Garden of Spheres and A Frog in the Fall are both great and fundamentally different. I think she's a good storyteller and writer. I wouldn't bother if she wasn't.
>>154171129>Nobody's going to talk about recent comics they liked?Haven't really read anything sorry. Just liked the image.
>>154171129A Frog In The Fall is worse, so many reused pages and even worse storytelling in it, but the actual world and writing is even so bad.
>>154171147I think the comic is great and you're not convincing me otherwise.Any recent comics you enjoyed?
>>154170979Huh?
>>154171206>I think the comic is great and you're not convincing me otherwise. What an absolute shitpost.
>>154169500Can see the Möbius and Miyazaki in it, might have to give it a look (although I'm more SciFi usually).Got into Dakini a while back.
>>154168188looks gay. this shit is to comics what gone home is videogames
>>154172134isn't dakini dead?
>>154168832Goodbye Eri was pretentious garbage

>>154174602What did you like about it?>>154175273I do remember this from years back, but I never got around to reading it. Thanks. How are you finding it?
>>154168188Who wants to know?
>>154175637>How are you finding it?very dead.
>>154176610Why, what happened?
Latest thing I've read is the newest Nate Garcia comic Wishbone. I'm kind of growing tired of his style a bit. He's moving down the list cartoonists in the Hanselmann sphere. Josh Pettinger is top of that list right now though. I'm loving Pleasure Beach.>>154168832Sunday is my favorite comic in the last decade for sure. Up there at least. I own both printing. Some of the best riso colors I've ever seen. I haven't read ZOC, but I love everything else on your list too, so I'll check it out
>>154176947Nice.I still haven't read Nate Garcia or Josh Pettinger, but their work looks pretty characterful. One of these days.I'd like to get my hands on the original Sunday printings.Zoc is short and sweet. Zoc's artist, Jade Khoo, has a new book out in a different style that I want to check out.
>>154176823Hiatus.

>>154168188Space Boy>>154168832Excellent picks, Tokyo These Days was phenomenal. Might give Sunday a try, I read Parallel Lives and didn't enjoy it.
>>154182372The art looks nice. Might check it out. >Tokyo These Days was phenomenal.Hell yes. It's my current favorite of the decade.>Might give Sunday a try, I read Parallel Lives and didn't enjoy it.What issues did you have with it? If they're related to the oddball humor and grotesque characters and art, you may not enjoy it either.
>>154182372space boy, space girlgonna take you 'round the world
>>154179827>tfw even the Dark Souls comic isn't actually the Dark Souls of comics.Look how dirty they did my boy Solaire. Even made the sun symbol angry like those joke US video game box art memes.
>>154185617Yeah, that doesn't work.
>>154185617ugly
This kino.
>>154185617This really is like Kirby box are jokes. I didn't think they still did that kind of thing. Is the comic bad too?
>>154183201I don't think I'm good enough at writing to explain in detail why, I guess yes that brand of comics is very hit and miss with me. I guess the whole tone and direction didnt appeal to me even if I thought there was some interesting things going on with the art. But I've long become used to not clicking with acclaimed graphic novels.
>>154186456>Kirby boxWhat's that?
>>154186370What is going in here?
>>154186456I couldn't make it through the whole thing but what I read of it was terrible. It was some generic mildly dark fantasy comic you'd find in some bargain bin. The plot was about some female knight with amnesia but it was kind of bland and didn't really have much connection to Dark Souls other than some sloppy references. In a way it very much fits the typical shitty outsourced work you'd expect of most video game tie-in comics. Honestly I could see OP's comic being a better spiritual fit for a Souls based comic.>>154188986This old classic. Gotta make Kirby ANGRY for American audiences (it's our culture).
>>154190812Because Kirby is too girly, gotta make him BADASS.
>>154190812Holy shit. That's ridiculous.
>>154191524how nu r u
>>154191524It's a long running joke that execs will strip out any sense of artistry or subtlety to beat your face with a hammer.
>>154192004Right is great cover art.
Read.

>>154197263Only a handful of anons posted recent recent favorites.
>>154196925A thread for genuine appreciation about the board topic was always doomed. We're too poisoned by irony and contrarianism.
