https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/june-17-2026-new-marvel-comics-collections-releases-full-list>This September, Dan Watters and Andrea Broccardo kick off a new era for Jessica Drew while Ann Nocenti makes her grand return to the character alongside Stefano Raffaele in a special Spider-Woman 50th anniversary one-shot.>To know her is to cheer her! This September, SPIDER-WOMAN 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 celebrates 50 years of Marvel’s Dark Angel with a jam-packed one-shot honoring Jessica Drew’s history and jumpstarting her spine-tingling new era!>First, writer Dan Watters (Loki) and artist Andrea Broccardo (Spider-Man Noir) take Spider-Woman back to the shadows, revealing a status quo that will shock fans more than a bioelectric blast! A terrible twist of fate awaits Spider-Woman in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity, kicking off the latest chapter in her tangled web of lies and mystery. Returning to her roots as a private investigator and teaming up with journalist Ben Urich, Spider-Woman ventures into corners of the Marvel Universe that her fellow heroes fear, but will her embrace of the darkness threaten her heroic legacy—or even her sanity?
>>154176930>Then, groundbreaking writer Ann Nocenti (Daredevil) returns to the character alongside Stefano Raffaele (Alien vs. Captain America) in a detective story for the ages! Drawn into a bizarre case in Los Angeles, Spider-Woman finds herself chasing clues throughout the city before coming face-to-face with one of her classic foes, Flying Tiger!>On his love for the character, Watters said, “Mysterious and dangerous, Jessica Drew has always been one of my very favorite Marvel heroes. I'm so pleased to be bringing Spider-Woman venom-blasting into a new chapter of her story!”>On how her story encapsulates Jessica’s unique appeal, Nocenti explained, “Everyone has flaws, and it’s heroic to overcome them. When Editor Kaeden McGahey asked me to spin a tale for Spider-Woman’s 50th Anniversary, I thought of how Jessica Drew’s spider pheromone scent can be isolating. It’s a great test of her detective skills to sleuth out clues despite her creepy vibe and also hits a universal chord—we all have occasional ‘everyone hates me’ moments in life.”>“In the 1980s editor Mark Gruenwald gave me the assignment to ‘retire’ Spider-Woman, ending the book’s run with issue #50, so returning to write a story about how Jess’s friendships and battles are hard won feels redemptive,” she continued. “Added bonus—with art by the spectacular Stefano Raffaele, the story will be gorgeous!”

>>154176950
>>154176930Watters is a good writer, but the premise doesn't sound exceptionally exciting
> terrible twist of fate awaits Spider-Woman in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-VersityShe seems completely disconnected from that book so that's weird>>154176950what are THOOOOOOSE
>>154176930>Marvel’s Dark AngelI thought she was a spider? Now I'm confused.
>>154177121Dark Angel is her epithet. She might be born from mad science, but her soul is tinged in the occult.
>>154177121Dark Angel is a Marvel UK character
>50 years anniversary for Jess>No drawings of her fantasticly shaped body
>>154176930Im pretty sure Jessicas darkest era was when she was doing backflips while 9 months pregnant, inches away from her baby dying as she was trading punches with villains.
>>154177357By dark, they are going to take away her eyesight.
>>154176930Sounds like a Jessica Jones thing. She gonna kill Gerry or something now that he's been magically aged up?
>>154177357That's not a thing that happened though, the most she did was ambush-zap a couple of skrulls since they took over the hospital she was at
>>154176930MCU Jessica soon, bros. I can feel it.
>>154176950best art.
>>154177571Maybe Gerry becomes the new Carnage.
>>154176930That is the flattest Jess I ever saw.
They do know she's a fucking international spy that kills people, right? Jess is already a dark character. Oh who am I kidding, no one even remembers that she's even british
>>154177820When was the last time she killed a person?
>>154177212Who last appeared in Gillian's Iron Man i think
>>154177813I bet Mattie would chest-mog her at that size.
>>154177793He’s already the Green Mamba working for Hydra.
>>154176930Which supervillain stole her tits?
>>154176930Will her nutty fake mom show up?
>>154180170De-plasto.The villain who destroys bolt-ons.
>>154180170Hydra took their implants back.
>>154180428Her fake mom has stolen her son, aged him up, and now treats him as her Hydra grandson.
So is her son still a Hydra agent?
>>154180905Yeppers.Viper got custody of him.
>>154180428>>154180743>>154180905>>154180995I think I don't like comic books.
>>154176930Sounds vague enough to be intriguing, yet not infuriating. I hope this isn't another anniversary "celebration" that just shits on and damages the character.
>>154182713Shits on seems unlikely. Damage might, but I'm not sure if there is a non-damaged Jessica.
>>154176930Where's her tits?
>>154176930Dan Watters is too good a writer for this C-list character.
>>154176936Why is she talking to commissioner Gordon?
>>154176930Will she have a fat ass?
>>154176930>>154177813It's a faggot artist (Olivier Coipel)A fucking great faggot artist but a faggot none the less. That said he did give us pic related fantastic naked Sif moment.
>>154176930she looks asian
>>154176930>A terrible twist of fate awaits Spider-Woman in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity, kicking off the latest chapter in her tangled web of lies and mysteryDoes that mean a mastectomy?
>>154185983>I'll lick your pussy! I'll eat your shit!
>>154176930Why she looks asian.
>>154176930Um... where her boobs at?
>>154176936Is it the first time her superhero detective gimmick is brought up?
>>154177571That's because Jessica Jones is a OC based on Jessica Drew because editors wouldn't let Bendis use the latter, for good reasons.
>>154185983Weird, I never noticed Coipel being boob-adverse before, but it seems like years since I remember seeing his work.
>>154176930Could this new "dark era" of Jessica Drew being the spoiler from "Timeslide"?You know, the one saying "Beware the Spider-Woman".
>>154187600Heh, Silk was hot back then. God bless Slott's yellow fever (still a shit character)
They should do a sweepstakes and the winner gets a custom comic where they woo Jessica. That'd be a satisfying anniversary indeed.
>>154189060that would probably cost more to produce than the number of entries if you had to clip something from your copy of Spider-Woman 50th.
>>154176930Big year for Jess!
>>154188524How would it even get darker than when she was borderline suicidal from having been kidnapped and impersonated by Veranke? Or losing her baby and then having it turned against her by Hydra?
>>154189167Kill her friends, revoke her immigration to the United States, have all her assets seized, beaten to near death with severe gore and some of her internal organs exposed, tied up and having a dynamic poison which changes its nature so she can't become immune to it injected into her veins.
No Bendis?
>>154189279>have all her assets seized,Thats already happened going by the titless cover in the OP.
>>154176930>one of her classic foes, Flying Tiger!BUT WHAT ABOUT GYPSY MOTH?!
I don't read Marvel, someone explain to me how Spider-Woman is somehow not related to Spider-Man in any way.
>>154190684Because its fun. Real answer is that they wanted to secure the name.
>>154190684Different spider, different time, different powers
>>154176930
>>154190684They wanted to secure the rights to the name so spun up a new character with 0 connection to Peter. In fact, the whole modern McDonald's franchise of Spider-bullshit going on now is all for passing around the rights.
>>154189139Unf look at how wide those legs can go!
>>154184782Looks more like Ben Ulrich or someone.
>>154190633Guess she didn't feel like writing someone she did the first time around. Flying Tiger is vague outside of claim that he was in Super Bowl in Spider-Woman and a former fighter pilot in Thunderbolts to the point he doesn't even have a name, so free real estate to do whatever. If he is both a footballer and a dogfighter, then he is Michael Vick.
>>154190633>Gypsy Moth becomes a drug kingpin, drugs Lindsay and tries to kill Jess>four issues later Jess invites her over to her and Lindsay's place for drinks"It's okay, she's hot." - Ann Nocenti, probably
>>154190684She's a super spy that just so happens to be spider themed. Like Black Widow.
>>154176930>Mine for the for the taking you always belonged to me Jessica.
>>154190712>>154191227But why didn't they tie her into Spider-Man in SOME way? Wouldn't that make more sense? Specially if you're thinking about it from a branding perspective. They didn't have to make them unrelated, they could've made them friends or something at the very least.>>154190716>>154192009They could've kept all that while still having something to do with Spider-Man, she is using a female version of his name after all.
>Beware the Spider-Woman really was about Jessica>It's her becoming evil because of Carnage
>>154192389>Carol confirmed to be Venom as of Venom #262It's all coming together
>>154191957She already was sympathetic to her the first time around. If she didn't put Lindsay through life-risking drugging, Jess would probably be okay with her actions. Also working together in a prison escape helped. There is a pretty important feeling with the two. Gypsy Moth is definitely a bad influence and doesn't want Spider-Woman as a friend, but Jessica tries anyway because she is desperate and feels they are similar. Jessica and Sybil having it where multiple things are similar, but distinct works well. Both are immigrants to the US, but Jessie was intentionally while Sybil was smuggled in and kept as a house pet. Connected to different Eastern European countries. Mutant and mutant. Power sets are kind of abstract to the the animal they dress as. Then you have a more or less normal person in Lindsay who provides her one consistent relationship and Jessica can be herself with .
>>154192389Sounds awful. Even the best-case scenario of framing it like a slasher film still would dilute her.
And what shall the poor spider wear to all tomorrow's parties?
