Honestly the only thing where I'm like "they could've spent more time on selling this" was Caine's face turn. Zooble and Gangle finding each other was fine, Ragatha got therapy'd by Kinger and Pomni, Pomni's arc was the first three episodes, Jax is the other antagonist as well as a deuteragonist so it's no surprise that he gets a ton of focus at the endWe could've gotten a little more showing that Caine is capable of a change like that. It feels weird to me because they're going for an "autistic attention-starved kid that doesn't know what he's doing wrong" thing but he also feels like he is genuinely incapable of self-reflection for much of the show, which is played for comedy, but I would've liked more hinting otherwise before he suddenly went "I'm self-aware, ashamed and good now."A conversation between Kinger and Caine on one level might have been a little hackneyed (if only because giving everyone therapy seems to be Kinger's job in the story) but Kinger is basically his dad, so a conversation between the two of them would've been good to see, I think.

I think that's bullshit, and that mystery and being subtle are great, but the series has established a certain expectation when it comes to big shifts in character that both the inciting incident and the reaction will be spelled out in long, bombastic fashion.I think it'd be better served if the series stuck little scenes of Caine making the adventure throughout the whole series. Like at the end of each episode, or when he sent the gang off on an adventure, we got a couple of seconds of him working on "something" and it's implied it's big and evil and mysterious and then at the end of episode 7 it's just revealed it was this adventure. Her reaching out to Jax is both her returning the favor and a direct callback to the dream in episode 2 where the others save her from abstracting.I think the fact that you can't expect everyone to do that for someone like Jax is what makes it, like I said. I don't think is Goose is saying "if you're a good person you're obligated to personally rehab your toxic suicidal friend." It's showing how far Pomni has come, how radically she's grown to care about her friends, even the worst of them. She's going above and beyond for him when he's screaming at her face the he's too far gone and doesn't deserve it (and is probably right on both accounts.) You could say that it's stupid, she has to be saved after attempting it, but it's undeniably sweet and she does get Jax a last second sort of redemption, rejecting the self-hatred that caused everything in the first place. IMO it's perfect considering what the entire rest of the show is.
