Ron also has attractive girls like Tara and Yori who are interested in him which validates Ron as a potential partner.Yori takes it further by being an unknown girl who's also a fighter and understands the life Ron and Kim experience this sort of shit is sets off territorial alarm bells in a woman's mind which then fuels attraction to Ron.Tara is a known normal girl who doesn't really register as a threat to her senses as a woman.Ron also just wasn't into her that way for the majority of their friendship which only fuels Kim being into him.A lot changes over the series which ends up making their relationship make a lot of sense, if nothing changed from start to end then yeah it'd be nonsense.
