does anyone here read this? is it any good? there's like 43 issues out and i don't think I've ever seen a thread for this here.
I've started reading it but got distracted and forgot about the comic. Guess I'm gonna start again. Would be neat if someone storytimed it or something.
>>154209697It's not good. Neither is Rogue Sun.Most of the people who would read this stuff have stuck to big two comics.
bump
>>154209859Really this. It’s a poor man’s Invincible which was a poor man’s Spider-Man/Superman.
>>154212332>It’s a poor man’s Invinciblein what way?
>>154209697I read the first volume recently, it was pretty interesting. Good character writing. Will be checking out the rest
>>154209697It's pretty good, nice twist at the end of the first arc, then that spins into a cool re-twist and a really cool gimmick in the third yearUnfortunately once that gimmick is done it kind of spins its wheels but as of last issue it appears the twist master is back to save the book
>>154209697No
How Kyle Higgins keeps getting work (let alone on his own stuff), is mind bogglingAnd here's the thing, it's not awful, just incomprehensibly bland. Like to the point where I was legit mad that he of all people got the opportunity to work on a fucking Ultraman comic
>>154209697No, it's not good. Nothing burger of a story, boring as fuck, boring characters, 40+ chapters accomplished nothing .
>>154214414Nta but the Most obvious one is the art. First chapters look like someone not skilled enough trying to imitate Ottley.
>>154218067He's the go-to weeb writer for some reason.
>>154209697Only got track in the first few years:https://desuarchive.org/co/search/subject/Radiant%20Black%20/Art and design looks really cool.
>>154218128And here's the thing, I don't know why. His Power Rangers was bog standard with an obvious attraction to TommySpeaking as a moderate fan of MMPR, I have never understood the love Tommy gets as JDF was kind of a legit asshole IRL. But, desu, most of it probably a bit of personal bias because I didn't take kindly to the fact that Tommy somehow superseded Jason as defacto leader once be became White Tiger
>>154209697Nice skin, but the insides are not so good.
>>154209697There have been threads.
>>154209697There have been threads and storytimes before, but they've not been successful Either way, the delays during Catalyst War legit damaged the comic and the hype it had built up
>>154222505So that's what it was. They never learn.
>>154209697It's good. It's not some 10/10 peak fiction with zero flaws that will finger your prostate while you jerk off, which people seem to think means it's bad.But if you just want a chill comic about two guys stumbling upon super powers and then doing their best to try and be a hero while also figuring out how to do me in their own life then you'll enjoy it. If that's not the kind of book you're into then that's fine, it just ain't for you
>>154209697Americans generally can't write toku hero fiction, whether it be Mecha, Mahou Shoujo, etc. The only times Americans were able to do it were with Ben 10, Sym Bionic Titan, Powerpuff Girls, Generator Rex, Megas XLR, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go, and Fawcett's Captain Marvel. Arguably, Spider-Man, Batman, Venom, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Ghost Rider fall under "toku hero".Radiant Black shows that the author doesn't really "get it". A toku hero story is NOT an American superhero story. It's like the difference between a samurai movie and a western. Interestingly enough, MHA had a similar problem where the author liked American superheroes but didn't "get it" either.
>>154209859Rogue Sun is awesome, you tasteless heathen
>>154224120>Americans can't write it except for all these times where they did>They don't "get it"This post reeks of "It's a new thing that I don't have nostalgia for, so it's bad"
>>154218067>>154218128>>154218814Power Rangers was his big break and I say this as a fan of both his run and Radiant Black. He got pigeon-holed as a writer for those sorts of characters even though by his own admission he's a newbie to tokusatsu and has really seen Build and some Super Sentai episodes he was introduced to Boom Rangers was big in its debut for the same reasons why Dynamite Ben 10 is an unexpected success right nowIt fulfills the minimum requirement in making a comic for a licensed IP be taken seriously for an aging fanbase starved for new stuff Say what you want about Boom's Power Rangers in execution, it did more the series than prior comics did >>154222505But yeah thisHiggins' health problems really messed with the book's momentum
>>154224476*and I say this as a fan of both his run and Radiant Black that it's something that came more out of the sheer notion that it was a Power Rangers comic that didn't play itself as a joke.I liked his run a lot but it wasn't ground breaking past it being for "Power Rangers standards"
>>154209697i read the first tpb and it's pretty nead
I just want more porn of Aurie, is that too much to ask for?
>>154225325I have a feeling there'd be a lot of incest art between her and Dylan if this series ever got adapted into animation
>>154224120>Fawcett's Captain Marvel. That existed /before/ toku was really a thing. Definitely before the whole concept of changing/transforming Japanese superheroes in TV shows/movies which you seem to be using(falsely) as your definition of toku. Also like the fact that you made a broad statement then immediately listed over 10 examples otherwise, completely negating your point.
>>154225413Hell yeah
>>154224120What about Ultra Mega though?
