Dad was driving them home, completely wasted, when he drifted into the opposing lane and clipped an 18 wheeler. Mom and dad were able to pull her out of the car before it caught fire, but her brother was trapped in his car seat and burned alive while they watched helplessly. Wheelchair Girl's lumbar spine was pulverized in the crash. Mom lost a hand. Dad did the old DUI ragdoll and was completely unharmed. Dad feels terrible for what he did to his kids (not bad enough to stop drinking though) and mom feels guilty for allowing it to happen, so they let Wheelchair Girl do pretty much whatever she wants.
Not to sound stupid but wouldn't every character be considered an OC?
