Yesterday Frank used Spidey as a meat shield, and Spider-Man met Morlun, who used him as a punching bag all night

Look at this
Really look at this.
The amount of time and talent it took to make just this single page is incomprehensible to most of us.

Say what you want about this story, there was a fire in the guts of the people behind it. There was passion and motivation.
>>
>>
>>154238077
It's going to be a LONG time, but I know of 4 other stories. And yeah, unlike The Shocker or other lesser villains, he is always the same threat level

For as shit as the story was, the fight in Spiderverse II was fucking good.

Kingpin I get
Magneto has already started to go soft by now
Doc Ock, is a stretch, but I can even see him.
I don't know where Juggernaut is as a character right now.

But Doom, that one just is wrong. At best, Doom is pissed knowing that this is going to change everything about how the world works in a way he doesn't like.
>>
>>154238252
>Magneto has already started to go soft by now
At this point in time he's either in charge of Genosha and wanting to start a race war or larping as a Chinese man so that he can enslave New York (retcons aside)

The End!

Tomorrow we return volley with a stretch of Peter Parker Spider-Man
>>
>>154238084
Can you expound on this? I'm interested.
>>154238081
The scale of this is quite immersive and impressive. Helps that he probably took many photographs and those are real buildings. Part of that feeling is also that so many old issues have real references so yeah there was no way among many reasons why they could not, not do this issue.
>>154238128
>Juggs: Damn....I was too late....
>>154238214
Peter looks appropriately haggard and way older here.
>>154238291
Well right after that >>154238287 is here. I was young during the 00's and not many muslims lived where I lived. How bad was the islamophobia? There's guys like Stern who said to nuke them while others like JMS here knew there was going to be that stuff and had to get ahead of it and quell it to a degree.

Magister, that was a lot of heavy shit. I ask yet again your opinion of the events so far. Real page turning stuff and makes you feel excited again, imo.

There's no way that he was able to cover everything about her getting married to Otto in less than 3 hours.
>>
>>154239253
He probably didn't even mention Ben Reilly
>>
>>154239253
Oh, that's coming later.
>>
>>154238497
>>154238505
All those years of comics we covered with Peter and MJ being married. Arguing or fucking. Peter swinging around and thinking about his wife and how he's lucky to have her. I know this break will end and then OMD happens but to see her gone and still hasn't returned yet. And right after she was gone for a while because everyone thought he was dead.
>>
>>154239253
Dunno if joke or srs but, I could see them just going over the origin itself and then May getting sidetracked by all the questions regarding his powers, his decision to try wrestling, and then all the fakeouts over the years.
>So that time Otto ripped Spider-Man's mask off in front of all of us which you said was a prank was actually you for real? What about that time when....
And so on.
>>
>>154238978
>Can you expound on this?
Kind of hard to say. It just feels like a early 2000's story in a way that nothing else has up until now. We've had multi issue stories for a while, but this time it feels like it was made with a trade paperback in mind.
>>
>>154238537
>i'm reasonably sure i can take her
In a fight. Right?
>>
>>154239279
Honestly, this really could have been a giant recap issue and I would have been fine with it.
>>
>>154239306
Oh yeah, there's plenty of shit like that with Spider-Man I wish a truly autistic fan like Ian Flynn in his prime that I wish would be used. But then we would end up with later Flynn. We just need someone who has enough knowledge but has the chops to move past some of it to deliver effective moments and stories. That's where I thought Spencer was going if he got more say over his comics.

>>154238081
I wonder how Marvel is going to retcon this and make this into a static event given that the recent Captain America comics now have Steve defrosted after 9/11
>>
>>154239267
That's the extended editon. Also this is the era of "The Clone Saga was the worst thing that has happened to the Spider-Man franchise." before OMD takes that spot.
>>
>>154239288
Hmm...yeah I can see that. I think the focus on one continuing narrative that is stretched over multiple parts that also has a narrow focus is what is causing that. Like now, you could say that is the norm but the narrowness and stretched out parts are exaggerated to the nth degree or the narrow focus is what I mean by the plot while the number of characters and pieces are huge like recent crossover events.

>>154238252
>Magneto has already started to go soft by now
Magneto's last appearance before this was recovering from getting stabbed by Wolverine because he was building an army on Genosha to go to war against and wipe out the flatscans and had kidnapped and tortured Xavier as part of his plan. He was ruling Genosha after taking it over and genociding most of the human population on it. He will then from here turn NYC into a concentration camp and herd flatscans into ovens prior to the Xorn retcon. He had gone the opposite of soft and should, at the very least, be indifferent and it would just be proof to him that flatscans need to be wiped out even more because if they'll do this to their own people, imagine what they'll do to mutants.
>>
>>154238053
A very special issue of Spider-Man
>>
>>154238047
I'm shocked she didn't die of a heart attack right here.
>>
>>154238959
So #400 or #38? which one did it better?
>>
>>154243156
It's a little hard to compare them 1:1
The objectives are just so different

Amazing 400 was the finale of May's character
While 38 is an evolution to her status quo
>>
>>154244411
So would you say they are both good and that now the most preferred character arc/saga she should go on, should be a blend of the two? Personally I'm not sure if I like the "Aunt May" always knew excuse. Her realistic reaction here and the fact she actually didn't know makes her appear less dumb for just letting Peter suffer with the knowledge that she might not know. May would seem more proactive or motivated than that. It's just she legitimately did not know or conceive of Peter being Spider-Man.
>>
>>154237895

Everyone just forgets that Morlun eats more than spiders after this.

>>
>>154238128
Goddamn, I hate comics.
>>
>>154247958
>>154245910
I hate anons who fixate on some silly bullshit from 25 years ago because America had a particularly politically deranged few years because we got attacked and people vented in strange ways, like a comic book writer who didn't think about if the characters were 100% in-character and appropriate for this page. Yeah it's kind of silly. Whatever. Not as bad as Dr. Doom skinning a woman for some armor, desu.
>>
>>154238252
I only really remember Juggernaut from the Stern story (AMS 228-29 I think) and then the 'sequel' to that story during The Gauntlet but he seems like someone who wouldn't approve of 9/11. He's a selfish jerk but doesn't go out of his way to harm without profit or some other form of self-interest.

I think Doc Ock is more reasonable than Magneto. Ock's character is kind of all over the place but he USUALLY is also just motivated by self interest, money, power, etc...
>>
>>154246138
I think its pierced things before, but I dont think it should do so cleanly.
>>
>>154237693
