The flaxan leader's armor suit/mech thing confuses me. Is he sitting in the chest? Seems like he'd have to scrunch up in there.
>>
>>154257831
maybe he is just a giant wearing an armor
>>
>>154257831
Usually with those types the wearer's arms and legs are protruding partway into the extensions.

I will never not finding it incredibly distracting that when the robot suit stepped on that guy's chest, the guy's head morphed into burger meat. Especially since, for some reason, the camera fucking focused on this transformation despite it not making anyway sense.
Literally in such a rush to show something gruesome that its just a magic goreification spell that doesn't bother to know what organs go where as long as you show something bloody and squishy.

Anyway, have a space fighter that is also a robot.

This one seems plausible, I think he is just essentially sitting in a chair. Keep in mind though, aliens, maybe their flexibility is higher than ours.
>>154259750
That's the problem, though. The extensions need to be able to bend, HARD, at the point of connection to the trunk. When action figures try this irl, the legs are always immobile for that reason, and AT BEST you get the user's elbow at the shoulder, which.. try it. see how far you can rotate your arm with it bent into an L.

I don't think that's a good argument, america is over saturated with comedies that got imported all over the world but that didn't stop other countries from making their own. Also spaghetti westerns were a thing even though america was over saturated with them. The more sensible argument would be that the higher ups didn't think such a series would get popular.

Exosquad and Big guy? Interesting, are there any planed mecha for the future? Hasn't Gennedy reached the point in his career where he can just focus on his dream projects? I wouldn't mind seeing him try his hand at a new mecha because SBT was the only serious western mecha cartoon that got close to the kind of story I want to see before it got cancelled.

Americans hate mecha that's why that little known franchise called Star Wars never took off here. What these threads usually ignore is that Japan has stopped caring about mecha too. The genre is well within its "remake, reboot, or sequel" phase and the handful of mecha properties being released yearly are dominated by legacy properties.
>>
>>154294385
But they cared enough for 30 years from 80s to the 10s. Even in the 00s americans didn't care that much about mecha unlike their nipponese counterparts,
>>
>>154294425
Ultimately that comes off more as a difference in aesthetic tastes than anything else. Some things that also need to be considered are the crash of Japan's film industry in the 70s that killed off big budget productions and the bubble economy of the 80s that saw the rise of OVA industry being able to massively output to any interest.
>>
>>154294573
>Ultimately that comes off more as a difference in aesthetic tastes than anything else
Yes, I didn't contest that. Only a few nerds in the west like mecha, I wish Sbt actually reached its conclusion .
>economy of the 80s
That's why I mentioned the 00s as well, they didn't have as much money but mecha anime were everywhere.
>>
>>154294664
The 00s is interesting to look at because it's a confluence of two factors. The revitalization of the mecha genre by Evangelion and the rise of the USA as a profitable export market.
