What year does /co/ consider the downfall of CN?
>>
>>154259232
2007. The internet died that year too thanks to facebook and iphone
>>
>>154259232
2007/8
>EEnE ended
>KND ended
>Grim ended
>Toonami (originally) ended
>Boston bombscare
>Writers strike causing them to make live action shit
>>
>>154259232
1957 when hanna barbera became the cancer that killed western animation
>>
>>154259786
Not relevant to OP’s question
>>
>>154259438
The success/low cost of what Disney and Nick were making is what caused the live action shit. The writers strike is actually what killed any/all momentum CN could’ve gotten from live action shit. It caused an immediate halt to it all, I remember the same few episodes of Out of Jimmy’s Head airing for months because they had nothing else.
>>
>>154259232
I would say 2014. After SU became the money pit it was all the charm the station had previously got sapped and had to rely on endless reruns and even cheaper cartoons to make ends meet.
>>
>>154259232
When Stuart Snyder took control.
>>
>>154259438
>Writers strike
Still can't believe they did this shit and tanked the art form. Honestly doesnt surpise me. Many of the creators of the 90s and 2000s were fucking self righteous assholes who rarely took apprentices to pass on their knowledge. There was just a hard reset on everything around the 2010s because most "artist' were coming out of art schools and not having any kind of real guidance from the old guard. I dont even blame the newer guys for how the industry shifted into such a shitty direction. The people who came before set them all up for failure. Fuck them all.
>>
>>154259232
It never downfell, you just grew up and think everything after you sucked as everyone does
>>
>>154260029
I really fucking hate when people bring up the 07-08 strike without knowing what was actually being negotiated. The just see 'union', and let /pol/ brainrot take the wheel.
>>
>>154259232
2013

>>154259232
2008

Out of Jimmy’s Head and the CN Real block were the symptoms of a network in decay. Around after 2014-2015, Teen Titans Go’s dominance in the scheduling marked the end of an era.

>>154259438
EEnE technically still ran up until 2009/10, which coincided with the rise of Adventure Time. You could see ads for the latter air during the Big Picture Show.

It never fell off, it's just nostalgia. The Fungies would be just as popular as Spongebob was in 2000 if it weren't for the existence of YouTube.

>>154260106
No, tard

>>154260106
This. It's the same reason why there are people who think the Star Wars prequels didn't suck now. People who were adults when they came out hated it, but kids loved it because they were the target audience. They grew into adults and suddenly people were saying, "you know, the Star Wars prequels were not that bad" and then, "The Star Wars prequels were fucking amazing and I'm tired of pretending they weren't".

And people tend to think that whatever music they were listening to between the ages of 11-17 is the best ever and that everything after pales in comparison.

The decline already began under Jim Samples and Michael Ouweleen in 2005-2006. They started showing live-action movies (Re-Animated), getting rid of Looney Tunes, and having watered down CN originals (My Gym Partner's a Monkey) because they wanted CN to be a Nick clone for the 6-11 demographic.

>It never fell off, it's just nostalgia
Nah son kids will not be watching this shit at all which is why they went to YouTube, stuff like SpongeBob actually had comedy and good characters to work with us, The fungi's was just Smurfs but what it was educational

>>154260029
animation has this problem every other generation but the working conditions are what really fuels the neglect

This, one example I give is the revention of CCF into Fridays they basically wanted their own Slime Time Live (if you guys remember that)

Maxwell Atoms confirmed it too.
>>
>>154261892
Ironically CN executives disliked Juniper Lee because they thought it would fit more on Disney
>>
>>154259232
2007, because that's the year I became a teenager and thought I was too good for cartoons
>>
>>154261892
Maxwell Atoms didn't confirm it. He gave an opinion.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing. Simply pointing out that a celebrity agreeing with an opinion is not confirmation.

Wrong zoomer, Brian A. Miller, who was general manager at the time confirmed it. You lost and got raped.

they’re not wrong
>>
>>154259232
I believe you could already see the cracks in the Ben 10/Generator Rex era. Not that CN itself had gone to shit then. It's leadership did. And then the decay spread from the top down.

God, social media and AI have really fucked up cognitive function and reading comprehension in kids these days, huh? Sorry, anon. Maybe you should have paid more attention in school.

2005: When Camp Lazlo premiered and just couldn't compete with not only post-movie SpongeBob but Dexter,The Powerpuff Girls, The Eds, The Kids Next Door and The Hateful Fart Cartoon

Do you think David Feiss is mad that Billy and Mandy, a show created by his former employee Maxwell Atoms ended up becoming more successful than his own cartoons? C&C did not make the transition to CN Studios like all the other shows.

2004. I hated Foster's and Puffy AmiYumi. They were the worst ones up to that point except for Mike Lu and Og. Megas XLR was amazing, but after Megas, the original series started sucking.

The only good original series after Megas were Class of 3000, Chowder (particularly season 1), Flapjack and the early seasons of Adventure Time and Regular Show before the romantic bullshit drama happened with both.

With that said, the City era had Ed Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy and Kids Next Door, which all continued to be amazing, plus Teen Titans and Justice League continued to be amazing WB shows. Yu Yu Hakusho continued to be fantastic as well, but late into its run, it got booted to 5:30AM. Aside from that, there wasn't much great about the City era. I actually did like some of the later Powerpuff episodes (though a few episodes like Sun Scream sucked) and season 4 of Johnny Bravo, but they ended early into the City era.

2018 for me with the A&T merger
