I'll never understand the 'tism surrounding Pawbert X Judy. It was very clear she was dedicated to solving the mystery and saw Pawbert as a sympathetic ally to the reptiles. Judy never once implies romantic interest whereas Nick as her "partner" gag is repeated multiple times alongside "anniversary" in a way that implies that other people see them as more than just friends. Fuckin aardvark man in the intro takes note of the strange pairing too but nowhere does it ever imply that Judy would date Pawbert and there's more sexual tension between Judy and Gary if anything

Yeah, to be honest, she is cute, but she doesn't inspire much confidence in her capacity of showing love. She always seemed quite self-centered.
Nick on the other hand clearly loved her to death. He didn't care much about the mission or even being a cop, he cared about her and her well-being.
When they both nearly drowned in the pipes, she wasn't even worried about him, when he was super concerned about her.

I don't think she'd be the best type of people to raise a family with, for example.

It seems mutual. They’d still have to learn how each other’s idea of love and commitment looks like. What they do have going for them is their ability to communicate about their situation improved as a result of their adventures. Even if the time between movies is short, she just doesn't show nearly enough concern about Nick as much as he does about her. In both movies.
I dunno man, she seems to be the type of person who is more married to her job than anything else, which is fine I guess, but a little disheartening, specially if they want to lean on the romantic aspect of their relationship later on.
Realistically speaking, it just feels like the sort of couple who is likely to face some complications in the relationship, potentially leading to a break up/divorce.

But who knows, maybe the next movie will focus on that a bit, with Judy learning (again) to give proper care for her relationship with him.

Though I guess it depends, sometimes one can understand the other well and find some sort of compromise that works well for both.
