Why did you not tell about 3-South sooner? This is probably one of the funniest series I have ever seen. Better than the current retarded zoomer slop. The problem is, the series is essentially close to being lost media since it has no official release.

Anyone else enjoy this hidden gem?

Are you me from a year ago?
I could not believe nobody had ever told me how good this show is. holy fucking shit.
The same studio did Bordertown, which was ALSO good despite looking like garbage.

by the way, you can't be anti gen z while using their language. Please revise it back to 2000s speak.

Yeah MTV had some really underrated cartoons back in the day but it was only for a very brief period. Its no surprised not many people knew or saw any of them. I think they wanted another B&B and just canceled everything and dropped animation entirely when it didn't happen. Pic related Clone High was probably the most popular one out of the bunch and it was still canceled. There was also Undergrads and a 3D CGI Spiderman cartoon that I never could remember the name of.

It was a lot like B+B though. Clever satire done through moronic characters, occasionally commented on by a nebbish nerd, and surrounded by massively incompetent faculty representative of the society that birthed these two morons to begin with
I didn't even know it was MTV, but I remember telling people "it's like imagine Beavis and Butt-head went to college, but then imagine the kind of college that would accept those two. And their roommate is the ONE guy actually trying, but also slowly realizing what kind of college he's at."

Yeah that was pretty much all of teen/adult entertainment back then. Teen, college, and dude bro humor and if it wasn't a comedy it was a teen drama. By the 2000's MTV was not only producing content like these, they were fueling and fanning the flames. That shit was everywhere to the point where everyone got sick of it. I do miss those types of shows though.

Also not MTV but there's Mission Hill which has a more down to earth after college humor.

so true. Great for a lot of the same reasons this show was. When I rewatch these, it's refreshing as fuck being reminded of how unpussified writing used to be.
Hell, the 3South theme song is all about how being a pacifist will get you fucked over in life, and you have to take a stand sometimes and fight back to defend what you care about

Thread making me nostalgic because I never had MTV growing up but knew about all the shows when going to grandparents home(cable companies knew how to trick old people into buying full cable packages). No parent was going to pay extra for cable just for 1 channel.
>>
>>154269311
did they not care about the other channels? I don't...
>>
>>154269318
I meant that as "I don't understand" without finishing it
not "I don't (care about other channels)" because in fact, MTV was something I never watched when we had cable. bo-ring.

I remember watching a few episodes of this a few years ago and enjoying it a lot. It's hard to recreate that cozy feeling turn of the millennium adult cartoons had.
>>
Stumbled on it randomly a year ago and had the same reaction. It's cool.
>>154269083
We need to make 3 South into the next Clone High style meme show with zoomers so it can get revived, but do it right this time.

Spider-Man: the New Animated Series
Cool intro but animation was odd to look at. Too uncanny valley for me.

I thought it was a standalone "streaming movie"...

After a certain point, adult animated comedies stopped being about college-age protagonists like 3-South or just 20- to 30-somethings in general with a gimmick and instead resorted to being Yet Another Family Sitcom. Shit's exhausting...
>>
>>154272420
That’s probably why people latched into smiling friends. Can’t say Rick and Morty because it’s a family sitcom.

Creator of this also made Bordertown.

Beavis and Butthead are iconic, so by default, they are the premier and face of MTV animation, but I would consider Daria to be the true MTV flagship show. Hell, MTV even used a ton of songs that were then popular at the time as the background music. Because that, it's like a near perfect snapshot of the late 90's/Early 00's.
I never got into clone high or undergrads, but I remember some of the more obscure stuff like Spy Groove and cartoon sushi, the latter which was fucking great.

>>154271633
Last I heard, they scrapped the spin off for Jodie, which is most likely a good thing.

>>154269598
>>154269060
What sucks is that there is no official release for 3-South. best I could find are the AI upscales of TV rips. Sad.
>>
>>154271633
It was finished and then written off

Didn't Aeon Flux air on MTV? I loved that show because it was the closest thing to animé that America offered.
