>Golden Axe, Wonder Boy, Kid Chameleon, and Ecco the Dolphin had two arcs across 12 issues each
>Shinobi and Streets of Rage lasted three arcs and had a one-shot story in the poster magazines across 19 issues each
>Eternal Champions had two arcs and a special across 11 issues
>Sparkster, Shining Force, Mutant League, and Marko's Magic Football lasted a mere 1 arc each across 6 issues
>Decap Attack lasted about 31 stories across about 50 issues
Thoughts on the non-Sonic comics featured in Sonic the Comic/Fleetway Sonic?
How they compare to their source material and how they stand on their own and if any particular you felt should've lasted longer?
I'm kind of curious on the reception of the non-Sonic comics back when Sonic the Comic was still running.
Even though arcs would end with asking readers if they wanted more, part of me is kind of convinced it was more of a management led decision to not feature games that were no longer relevant (Decap Attack aside)
Personally I wish Kid Chameleon got that last arc

I just assumed that the comic a prequel and his last appearance was a segue to the game where he takes on the deranged VR system once and for all.

That....actually makes a lot of sense
Granted the end still had the note asking if readers were interested in the "final showdown"

>The world's fastest hedgehog who
battles a mad scientist's robots
>A time traveling dolphin who battles aliens.

Did the comic ever publish letters from kids asking for more of a series or were upset when it didn't return?

from what I've heard that was basically it. There were actually plans to print the leftover stories from the cancelled Judge Dredd: Lawman of the Future book in StC (mid-96, which would've been shortly after the final non-Decap non-Sonic strip, the Shining Force adaptation), but that got nixed and the leftover stories were published in a one-off summer special instead
>>
>>154278119
Any particular reason why Decap Attack lasted as long as it did aside from the audience just really liking it THAT much and it being Nigel Kitching's pet project he could handle by himself on both writing and art?
>>
What was the thought process for Marko's Magic Football?
It's not even a SEGA IP
Hell, it doesn't even have a Wikipedia page
>>
>>154276874
I still love that DeCap Attack holds the record for second longest running comic based on a video game.
>>
I really wish we had gotten to see StC take on Nights. The entire thing seems so antithetical to British storytelling, I wanna see how it would've turned out.

Back when Sonic was actually his own franchise and didn't have to share with capeshitfags, powerscalingfags, or Fopfags.

Sparkster had an entire second comic produced but it was never published because Fleetway didn't renew the license. It would've introduced his evil purple counterpart from the games.
>>
>>154277745
I think it only published them if it was because a comic was soon to return. That or just kids asking for series about games they'd never do, like some kid asked for a "Rolo to the Rescue" adaption.

Ah, Fleetwqy Sonic. The Camp Sherwood of its time.

The Marko comic was pretty decent tho. And it might've had something to do with the developer being UK-based.

Not counting manga I assume?
Are we also counting scattered miniseries' or just ongoings without relaunches?
Pretty sure Udon has had the Street Fighter license for longer
>>
>>154281768
Yeah not counting manga. Otherwise MarioKun takes it. And yeah, continous stories. Though Udon may have overtaken it at thos point.

im thinking of reading archie and know everyone says to skip the early issues and stuff since its terrible and they retcon a bunch of shit later but i dont like the feeling of just skipping parts of a story to get the good part but i also dont want to really read a bunch of crappy issues like how much of the plot would i actaully miss if i skip until archies good part how much better is the comic if you read all of it from the start
>>
>>154280957
It'd be hilarious to compare and contrast how the Wii game depicts Britain in NiGHTS and how STC would have depicted it in NiGHTS
>>
>>154281896
Hard thing to say. I agree that skipping isn't very beneficial esp in Archie where a lot of the old, obscure shit just starts getting callbacks later on. Plus, I feel like the climaxes wouldn't be as satisfying without all the previous context. You're reading Archie anyway though so no matter what you're going to be reading a bunch of crappy issues, it's better to bite the bullet than fight it
>>
It's weird how Eternal Champions warranted its own special issue dedicated to it but it's second and last arc was shorter than usual.
I wanna joke it was SEGA of Japan screwing it over but I doubt they were even remotely aware of STC
I wish Jetta Maxx had more lewds
>>
>>154281896
Go to issue 20 if you want to skip the gag era.

If Millar wrote Streets of Rage today and had as much creative freedom as he did in the 90's what would he do differently?
>>
Heads up
There's a fan effort to rescan the entirety of STC
Don't mix them up with the AI upscaling "remasters"

Wait people actually like this comic. I only know this comic from tootieschizo obsession with it.

fun fact: there was an Urban Strike comic that was made for StC (presumably licensed around the same time as Mutant League; both are EA games and both this and Mutant League had the same writing team) but ended up being published a year later in 2000 AD instead
>>
I should read Sonic the Comic, everything I've read of it is gold but I'm waiting for the rescans.
Also, am I weird for unironically loving how racist against humans/overlanders the mobians are? I like a setting where if I tried to live in Mobotropolis or whatever, there would be genuine strife and cultural baggage. Maybe kenders wasn't too crazy about his ideas and just had bad execution.

I'm sorry Mr. British furfag but some people don't live in that shithole. Plus I would had been too young to know about STC anyway even if I was British.
>>
Wonder Boy is really damn bad. Same for Eternal Champions. The rest range from inoffensive to really good.
>>
>>154286623
That's really funny.
Another fun one is that the bridge story between arcs 1 and 2 of Shinobi was published by a completely different company in a yearbook.
>>
>>154281896
You need to skim through it like you would if it was an in real life comic and tune out of shit issues

I dont do it myself but I read 4chan that way.
>>
>>154281896
Do you like goofy comics like MAD and Beano? Read the whole thing.
Are you a plotfag? Skip.
>>
>>154286082
Fleetway is so popular I found chinese bootleg lego of it on AliExpress once
>>
>>154281557
Did the artist upload scans of his work beyond snippets?
>>
>>154287097
The rescans go up through issue 48 without any gaps at present. By end of next week, that'll be #62. End of July we'll likely be at #100. Just go ahead and start.

How do you people even learn about this stuff? Are there any other odds and ends? A half finished Golden Axe part 3?
>>
>>154276874
I'm kind of torn
As much as I think the the non-Sonic stuff had potential and strong first impressions that could have been expanded I know that they had to be sacrificed to flesh out Fleetway Sonic's world more
>>
>>154288417
To be fair, most of it comes down to specifically its depiction of Super Sonic to the point where people
A. Think he's a fan character
B. Think he's literally named Fleetway
>>
>>154280763
I think it's behind Top Cow Tomb Raider
