Will Eisner is better than Carl Barks and at least he created his own shit and OWNED it, he made modern comics what they are today, not this guy, just admit you like reading throwaway tie in license slop.

Why not try talking about what you like without denigrating others? You might get more engagement this way, but you won't have much real discussion.
>>
>>154279993
How are you supposed to enjoy something without using it as an opportunity to put down others?

>>154279895
No

The problem with Western comics as a medium is that they're intertwined and over-reliant on superheroes in stories that never truly end, suffocating any chances that something unique can catch on and diversify the market. We've been reading and telling the same stories and characters for decades because it's safe and familiar.
This is why Manga mogs. Sure, there's lots of slop and trends, such as isekai and harems, but the space is significantly more diverse with new universes with their own characters and rules (most of the time). Ghost in the Shell isn't Demon Slayer, and Demon Slayer isn't One Piece. Imagine if EVERY manga that came out for DECADES was an isekai. It would get old really fast, no?
The only Western Comic to really make the rounds is Absolute Batman, but its only claim to fame are the absurd and edgy monster designs. Will that really have staying power? If I want cool monsters and a good story, I can just read Berserk.
Place yourself in the shoes of a novice nerd that walks into a comic book store. Where does he start? Where's the first issue? What's a run? What if he's looking for a specific genre? What if something catches his eye, but one of the issues in the series is missing? This is what established nerds don't understand because they're entrenched in their own comfort zones and little cultural ponds. We need to platform new and original stuff and have them stand out from the corporate and oversaturated capeshit.

Does anyone have this Animal Quackers book of his? Does he explain the material? Like is it simply Carl got fucking horny and also drew ducks for so long, he was like "fuck it" and that's what happened?

That's your brain on Disney. Confirmed by every single Disney-related thread on /co/.

>>154278371
We comicbros need more solidarity. Duckbros and capebros and indiebros and Eurobros (and mangabros) should join forces.
