Yeah, I wondered about that too.

there was only 9 episodes
with the format of the show really they really should have made it longer
they only ended up going on like 3 actual adventures

Yep. The ending as it is felt pretty rushed and left a lot of plot threads hanging. Would've benefitted the show a fair bit to have them go on a couple more relatively unimportant adventures, even if it were mostly just for the sake of character/worldbuilding.
