What do you think of the new trend of toy cartoons being five minute episodes?

(Tales of Eternia, G5 MLP's youtube series, Transformers Cyberworld, the new monster High Battle of the bands episodes, the Magic Mixies cartoon)

I wish Transformers would at least go back to Cyberverse's 10 minutes

I don't like it. Do kids today not have the attention span for a continuous 20 minute story on a screen?

I think the longer stuff gets sent to streaming services (e.g. G5 MLP had Tell your Tale on youtube, Make your mark on netflix). Same with Transformers. Earthspark is on streaming, while Cyberworld is on youtube.

>monster high axed their 20 minute show and now only has the five minute show

grim

I miss syndicated cartoons so much.

Kids don't watch cable anynore, and streaming is too much of a risk. Kids are on their phones and tablets all the time, so sadly YouTube is the best bet and less expensive.

So far it's, alright. The last episode about power and Adam trying to be a hero outside of heman are well treaded plots for the franchise so I'm glad they haven't done the finger counting stuff out the gate. Still, it's clearly a baby show, for babies.

I'm 40 and I don't have that long of an attention span anymore. I blame it on everyone bothering me in intervals spanning 5 to 25 minutes all the time.

This is what more indie cartoons should be doing desu
Saves money

yeah, why DON'T more of them do 5 minute eps instead of trying to make a longass pilot?
>>

A lot of indie creators are still infatuated with the tv format so they stick to 11-30 min episodes

Shorts should be easier to produce, although 5 minutes might be a little too short for a decent narrative. I think around 7-8 minutes is the sweet spot. At any rate, I don't care too much about a cartoon's length if the cartoon is good and succeeds at doing what it set out to do. But it has to be good.

Reminds me of flash days when each short is pretty short
