tadc is able to be more adult and tackle themes without as much studio censorship as steven universe. SU is too kiddy
Steven Universe had more competition with adjacent-ish shows at around the same time so if it wasn't exactly what you wanted you could go somewhere else. TADC exists in a relative content drought.
