If you don't remember (and I wouldn't blame you if you don't) David Rodriguez (picrel) was this kid from season 19 who first appeared in the episode You're Not Yelping which was his most important role where throughout the whole episode Cartman basically kept manipulating him till David finally got proper revenge on him with the Boogers and Cum song at the end of the episode. He also got a pretty important role in Naughty Ninjas (picrel) where he played ninjas with the other kids and accidentally got shot by Officer Barbrady but survived. And throughout season 19 in general he was seen really often with the main boys and their friend group and it was insinuated that he was a permanent addition or at least becoming one...but after season 19 they pretty much dropped him and he became just a background character.

In my opinion the way they handled him was really weird. They didn't treat him like a one time character since throughout the season he did appear as part of the main boys friend group but after season 19 he basically became one. And in my opinion that's kind of a bummer because I personally felt he had potential. He wasn't amazing or anything but I felt like there was room for development. I thought the idea of a new boy in the friend group after so long of the same ones was a neat idea and since a new character in PC Principal was also introduced I assumed David would stay...but I was wrong.

In You're Not Yelping he was pretty entertaining though arguably Cartman was doing most of the heavy lifting. I like how he was basically just a good kid trying to help out with his parents restaurant but could get mean if he wanted to. And there was also some funny dialogue surrounding him like Cartman's tiny bicicleta joke or when Kyle just assumed he was from Mexico but he's actually from Idaho. I also found it hilarious when he just flipped off Cartman and was willing to beat his ass.

Overall though I guess Trey and Matt just didn't know what to do with him.

Oh and before anyone says anything DAVID WAS NOT THE MEXICAN JOKER KID FROM SEASON 23. A lot of people make that mistake and they do look really similar but they're not the same. Wouldn't even really work since David is from Idaho and not from Mexico.

It’s Da-VID, OP. get it right!

Oh shit I forgot about that one that was another funny joke surrounding him alongside Cartman's bicicleta joke, Kyle assuming he's Mexican, and him flipping off Cartman! They really could've explored that more if they wanted to. I'd personally argue he would've been a better addition than PC Principal. Plus I prefer when they focus more on the kids anyway. Heck even bring Pip back (from the dead obviously) so we have another kid in the friend group though obviously make him different from Butters since Butters sort of stole his role and made it better. Either way, focus more on the kids. David would've been a great addition.

thanks for clarifying that. i was about to say that you forgot his other big role but then i was like oops

Wasn't he Mexican joker

Bro...

It's literally in the first reply!

i don't know. he was great in the episodes he appeared in but i don't really see what he'd add to the group if he stayed permanently. he would probably just sort of be like a latino tolkien without much of a unique personality

he probably SHOULD have been mexican joker just so his character would have something to do. and make the mexican vs idaho thing a part of the joke where everybody assumes he's mexican and calls him mexican joker while in reality he's not even mexican
>>
It was very fashionable at that time in the USA to pretend to care about Mexicans.

>Mexicans.
>David specifically points out he's from Idaho and not Mexico when Kyle just assumes he's Mexican.

People automatically assuming David is Mexican when he's not could've been a pretty funny recurring gag alongside Cartman always making fun of Kyle for being a Jew, Kyle always making fun of Cartman for being fat, Kenny dying, Butters getting grounded, Cartman making assumptions about Tolkien because he's Black, Randy always saying hey Sharon, Stan throwing up when he sees Wendy, Cartman booing Wendy, Clyde always crying, Craig flipping people off, Jimmy stuttering, etc. That joke would fit right in with the others. And yes I know some of those haven't been around in a while but they're still iconic

i'd love if david became a permanent supporting character if only for the fact that he looks so colorful next to the other kids. they have variety in the colors of their clothes and three different skin colors too. sorry for the low quality image. it's the only one i could find online of david and the other kids together and i didn't feel like going through the episodes to take a screenshot

Seeing them next to each other he kind of just looks like Tolkien with lighter skin. They have almost the exact same hairstyle except David has a widows peak while Tolkien doesn't and David's hair looks very slightly spikier/messier at the ends while Tolkien's hair looks more neat. But if you swapped their skin colors they'd still look about the same just with different clothes.

His debut episode was pretty good but after that he was just sort of...there. He was hanging out with the main boys but he just sort of stood there without saying anything. Even in the ninja episode he didn't really say anything besides just screaming when shot by Officer Barbrady. So I don't blame Matt and Trey for abandoning him.

...who?

>it was insinuated that he was a permanent addition or at least becoming one
No it wasn't. Never did I think this guy was going to be more than a background character
>>
>>154315596
You gotta admit it was sort of odd though that he was hanging out with the main kids so much throughout all of season 19 since his introduction and then after season 19 it was like he didn't even exist. He wasn't just in the background he was front and center hanging out with the other kids as you can see here >>154313645 and he also partook in playing ninjas with them. Most one time characters just completely disappear after their debut episode but he didn't. It was fair to assume he'd reach more or less Clyde or Scott Malkinson tier relevance.

Stealth /pol/ thread. OP keeps hammering the point that David isn't mexican because he was born in Idaho. He wants people to debate him on the matter.
>>
>>154316028
I mean bro it literally says it in the fucking show lmfao. Saying he's Mexican is just blatantly wrong, it's like trying to argue that the South Park Satan isn't gay. It's possible he's of Mexican descent despite not being from there himself but the show never verified that. Besides there are other Latino cultures/countries outside of Mexico. He's Latino-American but that's all we know. We don't know the specifics.
