I want cartoons to stop sucking. I want them to be great again. I have nothing I want to do with my time besides scream at people here on 4chan.

Anyone know any non-cringe anime or cartoon podcasts I can listen to while I'm at work?
>>
>>154320577
Too bad, the budgets are tight, so now shows only get 1 episode per year and 51 episodes worth of community drama.
>>
Maybe do the cartoon yourself (even with ai)

How could that cartoon possibly be forgettable when even the thought of it existing makes anons seethe so hard?
>>
>>154320577
Safe-ish adventure/lore heavy cartoons made by fags are unironically my jam. Despite them being supposedly forgettable, that's all /co/ seems to fixate on

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing an actual adventure cartoon even if it was full of tropes, common designs, and character types. The problem I have is that too many shows set up expectations for high adventure, but then want to
S U B V E R T E X P E C T A T I O N S

So we get a handful of fun action adventure episodes but then the rest of the god damned series focuses on relationship drama or the politics of the people pulling the strings behind the adventures or some shit. At this point, I think the best way to subvert expectations is to subvert subverting expectations. Just make a fun adventure cartoon with no twists. Just good guy vs bad guy who has no tragic relatable background story.

You had your chance, and Wellesley Wild butchered it by forcing the original team who has been begging to get their baby back for years to do Tower of God's first season and Shenmue: The Animation against their will while their baby got butchered to death.

I'm sorry, please jump to live action like everyone else, even Gooseworx made the jump with The Savant, which will never see the light of day because Glitch wouldn't let go of TADC so Apple can make a live action remake in exchange of making a new IP which has a shit ton more care and passion then TADC (Goose created, stared and composed for The Savant) which has to suffer in animation (it's also why Disney is remaking all of it's animated films into live action, it's the only way they can be set free ditto for why manga aimed at normies now of days is adapted for live action instead of anime, and if there is a anime adaption it's strictly designed for foreign markets, mainly China as they do 90-99% of the work and are the ones paying for it).

Move to live action, you will thank me later.
>>
>>154320577
I want an active escalation story with an engine of dramatic and situational irony instead of a passive post hoc mystery where the engine is piecing together the lore
>>
>>154323025
What exactly do you envision? Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Owl House are all pretty straightforward stories and are hardly subversive other than having gay characters in it, which really only applies to the last one. Even something like She-Ra has "relationship drama" but at the same time it's still a pretty clear cut good guy vs bad guy story. This criticism only seemingly applies to Adventure Time and Steven Universe, but I also don't think SU was ever pretending to be anything it wasn't. I think AT just traumatized you, anon

I hope the pendulum will swing back, if the latest He-Man movie is any indication of where storytelling trends are headed

You should grow out of cartoons by the time you're 12 and realize that getting pussy is more cooler than watching Barney. With adult cartoons you should stop watching it by 18 unironically because, once again, getting pussy is way more cooler and satisfying. If you can't comprehend this it's because you're either a spic or a sperg

Dude… Unfortunately, this crap is starting to push everyone into a corner. I’ve been ignoring it then pushing back against it then turning my back to it, then complaining about it for three years now.

But it just keeps improving and no matter what laws we push to keep it from stealing our art, there’s always some Chinese firm who doesn’t give a crap and it’s just going to train theirs on everyone’s art whether we like it or not.

At this point, it’s not a matter of if it’s just a matter of when so. I’m just recommending to all skilled artists that they stop trying to be the horse and buggy salesman complaining about the car dealership that opened down the street back in the 1920s.

Go get your own car dealership. And learn how to use this technology. With actual artistic skill, you can use it to jump, leaps, and bounds ahead of any of the people who are just using AI alone and probably by yourself another 10 years of career before corporate, America tries to automate things even further.

>Maybe do the cartoon yourself (even with ai)
You have no idea how much time goes into animation... like at all... that's not even considering the person has to be artistically competent enough to begin with and then make something appealing enough so the project can continue on with what is assumed to be donations and support.
That's not even mentioning getting newbie VA's who think a little side project will boost them into the big league VAs and act like dipshits, or just not do some basic voice acting.

It goes all the way back to the 70's, when America outsourced actual animation to Asia while leaving only heads at home.

On one side it set the roots for Anime, on the other side it planted the grains for nepotism and getekeeping in USA.

50 years later we're here. Asian animation won and American animation is dying.
>>
>>154323414
Theres no such thing as Obama (he was created by a soda company to sell more soda during the holidays), only Satoru Iwata who was president between 2001-2015 where he died of stomach cancer and Donald Trump (who Iwata picked as his successor years before he died) took over since.

And Iwata was constrictive as fuck.

1960s with Rankin/Bass, and anime already had roots without American involvement (see Momotaro: Sacred Sailors and Panda and The White Serpent which both pre-date Astro Boy'63).

Asian animation lost the day Avatar The Last Airbender was created and Hamtaro was yanked off the air waves in favor of Haruhi Suzumiya.

NTA but Stakes and Islands were great, also Distant Lands if that counts. A lot of my favorite eps came from the mid/later seasons like Hall of Egress, The Mountain, Dungeon Train, etc.

There's a grab bag aspect of the show that emerged later in it's run so you can take what you like and skip the rest, but people talk about the show as if it died at Breezy

No I do not live in a bubble.

Gen Alpha watches live action YouTubers like Joe Redifer (Game Sack) and Clint Basinger (LGR).

Zoomers watch Family Guy and Bob's Burgers.

Millennials watch Animaniacs and Darkwing Duck.

Demon Slayer's second proper movie only made $70 million in the box office (the first one broke a billion if anyone cares, people since then just got sick of it like Yo-Kai Watch), and almost all of that is strictly Japan alone and that was nothing but fujos, stay at home house wives and wine aunts.

The Day The Earth Blew Up became the most succesful animated movie, while it floundered at the box office it made up on streaming and home video (DVD and Blu-Ray).

And if normies do touch anime it's stuff like Sazae-San and Chibi Maruko-Chan, shows that are just as simple and flat as Family Guy and Bob's Burgers.

Now shut the fuck up, you don't know what you're talking about.
>>154323961
Hamtaro and Kirby Right Back At Ya!, not DBZ and Naruto.

I would also bring up Mirumo De Pon and Bomberman Jetters but Mirumo never had a Anglo America release (it did see release in Latin America and English speaking regions in Asia however, and the English dud was done in Canada so theres no excuse not to release it in the US and Canada) and Bomberman Jetters never got exported overseas other then the GameCube game (likely due to stealing the Seinfeld theme).

Networks love Slice of Life/Status Quoslop because they can re-run random episodes out of order with no problems, whereas with serialized content it feels disjointed and requires prior knowledge of previous events. You’d think this would change with streaming, but boomers gonna boom.
>>
>>154323301
There are solutions to all of those.

If you can't draw at a professional level then practice, throw enough hours of repetition at it and you can learn that skill

Simplify the animation, do it Hanna-Barbera quality where each shot has like three unique drawings, if you can draw competently then you can do that in a reasonable amount of time, hell make it a motion comic if you gotta, that's still technically animation, and trust your audience to understand that that's the cost of only one person doing it all

If you don't wanna deal with human voice actors and don't wanna write without dialogue then just give each character a sound effect that represents them talking and put their dialogue on the screen in text, subbed anime is too popular to assume nobody will be okay with reading it

If you don't wanna do that that's fine, but be honest about it, don't make excuses

>>154323301
I know all of that and I'm doing my own animation anyway while juggling a full time job. Yes, I do know how to draw already (I'm competent enough but with room to improve) but whenever I see anons complain about never being able to pursue their own pilot, I genuinely think it's a skill issue. Is this tedious as hell? Yes, I have been at this for months and have created so much for my project but there is still so much left to do. But it will be worth it to me. Hell, I am a small artist online but my concept/script was so good, I successfully got e-celebs who are known by millions to say yes in featuring in my pilot as leads (I still can't believe it).
