I have even more issues with the ending now that I think about it1 - C/A is definitely not defunct since they're actively blocking Caine from escaping to this day (blocking the wifi, a cafe isn't going to give a shit and it'd be a pretty weak twist if he mistook them turning it off at the end of the day for being blocked from it). Alternatively it is defunct but they have an AI playing janitor for Caine which they didn't even hint at.2 - Gooseworx seemingly actively does not view continued existence in the circus with no outside communication and people abstracting one by one irreversibly until they're all gone a bad situation. Or all of them abstracting in one bad day after one of them abstracts. Aka "uhh life is human nothing lasts forever, even though it shouldn't apply in this sort of setting".3 - Pomni is responsible for Jax's abstraction because she went after Jax like 3 or 4 times when she really shouldn't have in prior scenes, but the one scene she really should have stuck with him after he is obviously in a "all is lost" mood is the moment he obviously abstracts.4 - Abstracted people are fully sentient inside of their abstraction beasts and have full understanding of their situation, so abstraction SHOULD HYPOTHETICALLY BE FIXABLE despite gooseworx's word of god on bluesky (she also lies). But they don't even hint at that or have caine/kinger say "its hypothetically possible but I'm not capable of doing it" to specifically dismiss it. 5 - If you can just jump into abstracted people, there should be a clear downside or risk to doing it or it has little narrative risk.
