Planetary by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday has been getting a lot of shit, but it's one of the best superhero comics I've read, and arguably Warren Ellis' best work. How do you feel about it?Also, RIP John Cassaday.
I bought it a long time ago, was going to read it obv been talking about it since it first came out and got the omnibus like 2 years ago
>>154331643I read it a long time ago and really enjoyed it.As for John Cassaday, that hit weird since I use to buy a bunch of comics just because he was the artist back in the day.
This was ages ago before my brain was fully cooked, but remember it being mostly good and *very* confusing. The Lovecraft crossover lives rent free in my head
>>154331643Is one of the best comic books of the XX Century.
>>154331643Why is it getting a lot of shit? Planetary is one of books that most readers like. I thought it was awesome, and it was a ton of fun discussing the book as it came out too. We mostly only griped because of the delays, the weird Cassady art in the final issue, and people being split on how it ended.
>>154331643i liked it. too bad it didn't go on a bit longer
>>154331643The only thing I'd say against it is Ellis' dialogue can really grate now in 2026 after we've been exposed to 15 or 20 years of Joss Whedon style millenial writing.
>>154331643it's pretty much in the very top tier of capeshit that is worth reading but the problem is you have to have some kind of general knowledge of capeshit to be able to appreciate it bettercassaday is dead? didn't even know he was sick!
>>154333217Yeah... :/
