About to say, BTAS has crossed the generation gap multiple times now. It was airing in syndication when I was a kid and then aired in syndication again when I was a teenager.

Harley is a "Hybristophile prison wife" "Like the kind that sends serial killers letters or try to marry them" per her own creators - But they also explain that it isn't just the fact that the second she saw the Joker her panties became sodden that makes her fall into villainy but that, even though no big tragedy ever happened to Harley in her backstory, "as life went on", she generally viewed hers as having lost all colour, enjoyment or meaning. With Joker working his rizz on her being a sort of breaking point

Dini is inconsistent about Harley, she gets absolutely no redemption in either TAS or Beyond, her granddaughters are just as crazy meaning it runs in the family and her treatment in the Arkham series has her be unrepentantly evil with no redeeming qualities
I don't buy this entire "Harley is meant to be a victim", perhaps early on in the show but as Dini kept writing Batman media Harley just became as evil as Joker and more a psycho who was basically the fiction equivalent of a true crime girl.
