>To explain: “Dynamic Duo” is made with a combination of computer animation, models and large-scale puppetry; the way the characters move and their faces on those characters is genuinely unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. And the Gotham City that the Swaybox team has assembled, by their own admission, is more expansive than any put on film before. You might have watched Swaybox’s test on a puppet of Hogarth from “The Iron Giant,” which was genuinely mind-blowing. But seeing that technology on the scale of a feature-length animated project set in the world of Batman? Truly unstoppable.

>The closest analogy is seeing what Christopher Miller, Phil Lord and their entire team were doing on “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” for the first time, both in how cutting-edge the visuals were but also in the way that it was able to translate characters that you know almost on a molecular level and do something wholly unique and unexpected with them.

>As for the story of “Dynamic Duo,” it follows two would-be Robins – Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Told from a teenager’s perspective, we watch as they goof around Gotham and are swayed by two very different adult figures in their lives – for Grayson, it’s Bruce Wayne aka Batman; for Jason Todd, it’s the villainous Red Hood. (At a certain point, Todd assumes the identity of the Red Hood, sometimes for good, sometimes for not-so-good.) There was one beautiful test shot of the Red Hood walking through a subway car; as “Dynamic Duo” director (and Swaybox founder and co-CEO) Arthur Mintz said, when Todd looks in the shiny, reflective Red Hood helmet, he sees himself. When Dick Grayson looks at the helmet, he sees something very different.

This sounds like shit
>>
Dick fans BTFO. Jason is now an equal and contemporary of Dick, lol.
>>
>>154338853
Anon, Jason is the crack baby loser who doesn’t get raised by Bruce. This is DC saying Jason is below Dick.
>>
>>154338935
No, it is saying they are equals and Jason is going to get more attention too since he is going to be the tragic figure going with the Joker and more fans will gravitate towards that. They are even getting rid of Dick's origin to make him a street kid like Jason. Normies will care more about Jason's story than Dick's here.

Dick is the good boy who doesn’t get raised nothing wrong and Jason is the street trash loser who wasn’t good enough for Bruce. That’s what they’re doing, you retard.
>>
>>154339042
They are both street rats, which is Jason's origin not Dick's. So Dick is already losing part of his character there for Jason's. Basically Jason is going to be the Raph of the Ninja Turtles and Dick will be Leo here and Raph is always way more popular than Leo in the fandom. The entire story is going to revolve around Jason's tragic turn more than Dick just joining Batman.
>>
>>154339147
But we’re not getting Second Chances, which one of the most memorable post-Crisis Batman stories, which is clearly what this story is taking inspiration from. What we’re getting is a bastardization that crowbars Dick into this so we can have a “Jason was always destined to be a dirty street rat that needs to be saved by the superior Dick Grayson” moment. The fact that Dick is now a street rat lessens lessen Jason’s unique status.

> concept is still DOA
And water is wet. The art direction is the only thing that can save this shit from irrelevance and mediocrity. Good luck to the artists who have to elevate this script and vanity project.
>>154339042
And this won't be the message of the movie since it reeks of classism and PR disaster. That shit may fly with terminally ill capeshitters like yourself because no one is paying attention to your dying media, but not with casuals or normies.
> Jason was tutored by a dangerous guy or wasn't lucky like Dick

>And this won't be the message of the movie since it reeks of classism and PR disaster.
DC Comics absolutely loves its classism and so do general audiences. They absolutely love seeing Batman beat the shit out of poor people.
>>
>>154338503
Geoff Johns and other writers already treated Jason as the Batfamily and Titans' personal Scrappy Doo, so this is just furthering that agenda. Think of the writers who wish they could write Dick but get handed him instead too.
>>
>>154339973
> so do general audiences.
Casuals are the reason why DC drones like you are aware that "Batman beat the shit out of poor people" and movies only focus on supervillains to keep normies unaware of alll this. And when they don't, you have the last scene of the last Batman movie with the Riddler btfo Batman by pointing the classim.

Dick kino incoming
>>
Why didn't they just make a Nightwing and Red Hood story? Is what everyone wanted
>>
>>154341476
Because this way they can insert the Joker with Jason's origin.
>>
>>154341476
DC gets rock hard at the thought of Jason being Dick’s Joker. They’ve done it three times already.
>>154340067
Judd Winick says hello.
>>
>>154341642
Joker is already a big part of Jason's backstory
>>
>>154338503
>‘Into the Spider-Verse
its caca doo doo
>>
>>154343667
This is his origin. The Joker being part of it is a retcon.
>>
>>154338503
I don't give two shits about the story or how they change Dick and Jason's backstory, I care about the animation.
>>
This would make more money if it was live action. And much cheaper to produce.

>This would make more money if it was live action. And much cheaper to produce.
I wouldn't give a shit about this if this was live action.
The selling point of this movie is the puppet animation. Did you not see the Iron Giant animation test?
>>
>>154343944
>The selling point of this movie is the puppet animation
The selling point is that it's a fucking Batman movie with the very popular Red Hood in it. The fuck you mean?
>Did you not see the Iron Giant animation test?
Yeah I saw it. But why that for this?
>>
>>154343994
>Yeah I saw it. But why that for this?
Would you rather they rip off Into The Spider-verses shitty 15 FPS animation style like all other major cartoons are doing?

Underreported but WB now owns Swaybox
>>
>>154343924
DC is terrified to do live action Robin still in movies because of the Batman and Robin movie being such a disaster.
>>
>>154343944
>The selling point of this movie is the puppet animation.
It looks like soulless shit though, so much tech is developed just to make uncanny garbage. "We spend 200 million on making CGI tech that can imitate existing tech but do it more modern and way more expensive"- who asked for this?
I'd rather have nice 2D animation. never saw The Iron Giant and though "boy I wish this was a puppet with a CGI face overlayed on it

No one looks good on green red and yellow
>>
>>154338853
This is saying Red Hood should go back to being a Nightwing villain.
They're right.
>>
>>154345508
>They're right.
The sisters back at r/Nightwing are not right tho. They've attempted to link Jason and Dick three times, and it failed each time.
>>
>>154345508
Sure why not
>>
>>154338503
>This sounds like shit
ok cynic
>>
>>154344260
Nolan, Goyer, and Bale all said hell no too. The reason why Batgirl and Robin were pushed into The Batman toon was because Warner wanted them somewhere, and the live action movies weren't having it.
>>
>>154344260
Dick’s origin is pretty outdated for modern live action, and Tim can’t exist without Jason.
