This is literally the funniest show I've ever seen, how the fuck did it get such poor ratings?

That is so kafkasque...
>>
>>154351208
It failed to, as it were, get a foothold
>>
>>154351232
It would be funnier if your reply said "Please no meat touching, Ma'am."
>>
>Too crude when compared to The Simpsons and Futurama
>Not crude enough when compared to South Park
>Not a family sitcom

I enjoyed the look but the characters aren't particularly likable and the comedic timing is a little off. It's good enough for a comfy cult show to rewatch every now and then though.

>I enjoyed the look but the characters aren't particularly likable and the comedic timing is a little off.

Those are my exact thoughts on Downtown.
>>
>>154351208
The WB was a shitty network no one but teenage girls watched, that's why. It would have been more at home on Fox since it was made by former Simpsons guys.
>>
>>154351587
Or MTV, which would have made sense given the Real World episode.
>>
>>154351208
It was the cartooniest and childlike of the 3: Downtown and Undergrads.

The little brother's episodes genuinely felt like kiddie crap.
It also had better pacing and twists than Dilbert at least.
>>
>>154351587
>>154352158
Damn...
>>
>>154351208
We're in a shitty timeline where we can't really have good things. It sucks, but we should get used to it.

grim
>>
>>154351208
I really like their dog's design!
>>
>>154351208
It didn't fit the network's style which catered to teenagers and young women.
>>
>>154351524
Downtown is peak comfy, though

Mission Hill was fighting a losing battle from Day 1
>>
Apparently they had like a 10 year plan for this shit. Imagine...Andy get iPad

Kevin Goes Gaga
>>
>>154351208
Wrong network, wrong marketing push, and the characters were all sitcom characters. Meaning not likeable at all for purposes of drama.
>>
>>154351208
While going through more niche cartoons a few years back, I watched undergrads and Mission Hill back to back. I liked undergrads enough, but watching Mission Hill right after made it look like complete dogshit in comparison.

>The little brother's episodes genuinely felt like kiddie crap
Jacking off to a porno mag in a gas station bathroom and having to fess up to lighting a fire in the process to keep your classmates from going to prison is kiddie crap?

In certain countries, yes.
>>
>>154351208
The real question is why Adult Swim didn’t order a new season (or at least complete the unfinished episodes).

PENIS
>>
>>154360092
Indeed.
>>154360227
Yes, the original plan was to have ten seasons with 20 episodes each. Andy would be fired from every single job he would've had every eight episodes as a means to change the Status Quo within the show and as a running gag. Characters would also age and move on to other stages of their lives such as Kevin finally getting into Yale and Andy becoming a successful cartoonist. It was too ambitious at the time and I would've love what could've been, unfortunately, the show was doomed from the start.

Jim is cool. Be more like Jim.

posey was likeable. she was very aware of her faults and not a perfect person and was trying to be better

>that COLOUR PALETTE
This show was such a vibe...
>>
>>154351208
y'know I never understood why the chick was balding
>>
Never seen this show. Why's it called "Mission Hill" anyway?
>>
>>154351524
Bull shit, Downtown was great, very organic and fluid animation style, I found Alex to be real but sympathetic, the show blew "Daria" out of the fucking water

Have you negroes read the finished, unproduced scripts? They're fuckin' good!
In this one, Toby and George think Kevin is dying, so they do something nice for him, and things get out of hand.

I can't believe how much I love a show with no little girls... honesty, it's weird. Normally I only watch cartoons for the little girls.

Even if it did survive beyond its first season, it would have to contend with Buffy, Dawson's, and the upcoming Smallville at the time.

Try watching the show
>>
>>154369869
Good stuff.
Let's animate it!
>>
>>154369869
Yeah, I got them off the website like a decade ago when I was starved for content. I wish more of the animatics were found. https://youtu.be/tKTGTyxdsoU
>>
>>154372193
Heh, just like we'll animate that Undergrads movie, right?

No.

No?
>>
>>154351208
This show was done dirty
>>
>>154376917
No. Because the silly idea of making an Undergrads movie needs it to be, well, a movie. Full length, quality, etc.
>>
>>154378168
He's been sitting on a fully-written screenplay for years now. The only roadblock is racking up the funds to actually get it designed and animated, to a quality he feels is at least *close* to the original show's visuals.
>>
>>154372961
this is easily the best episode.
>>
>>154351208
watched it two years ago with a group of friends since one of them kept screaming about how great it was. from what i remember, it lost direction halfway through the season like clone high, and plots quit being compelling as Andy failed relentlessly. but damn, the first half was incredible, warm, and honest. what a shame.

2 years too soon for adult swim.

Huh?
>>
It was paradoxically both ahead of its time and behind the times
>>
Because The WB didn't know how to market ANY of its shows.

Just be glad classic Adult Swim brought over WB's animations because I doubt even fewer people would have remembered them if it wasn't for classic Adult Swim. I'll always remember it as "The Big WB 3".

Mission Hill
Baby Blues

>I found Alex to be real but sympathetic

Too bad his sister was an obnoxious, selfish cunt.
>>
There need to be more wholesome monogamous gay couples like Gus and Wally
>>
>>154383029
Same, but I remember those three more from Friday nights on TBS than from Adult Swim. They used to play Futurama and Family Guy too.
>>
>>154352158
It wasn't mtv material. Hell it was barely WB material.
