I've been wanting to get into Hellraiser but never knew how. Comics that is, I dont trust the movies (never watched any), I am well aware how gross and sick the cenobites is and I doubr mainstream cinema can nail it. Years ago I went, tried and read some comics but idk I dont remember which ones they were or anything really. I remember it was so complicated, to my ignorant understandings there hardly is a main canon. I understand there was a original book (I have no experience with books), then there were comic ADAPATIONS, then there were sequels FORM THE COMICS. and then the hundred movies ADAPTIONS which are mainstream and the most known, but I doubt they are canon accurate or good depictionsit sounds so fascinating but I am so confused about itwhat the fuck are cenobites. how the fuck they even come to beif you stab a person, in a critical part of the body, the person, logically and realistically speaking, dies. here it is said the cenobites are creatures that... transform you by.. stabbing you? what the fuck?? they rip your skin off and you SURVIVE? how the fuck does that shit works!? I really need to see and read to understand it. I watch random scenes from the movies and I cant understand what the fuck they even do, what their powers really are. it's all camera cuts, chains that come from nowhere, then the victim gets impaled... what the fuck even happened??
yes
>>154360242>I've been wanting to get into Hellraiser but never knew how. It's a bit complicated, but i'll try to lay it out. Take the book cover in your left hand, and "open" it, flipping it to the left. Therein you'll find a combination of words and text. We call it art and writing. Use your eyes to decipher the symbols or characters that form sentences, and as you do, look at the corresponding artwork in each panel. This is real inside baseball stuff, and I might have done a bad job of explaining it.
>>154360242You survive and they torture you for all eternity, or until they get bored it seems
>>154360242>I've been wanting to get into Hellraiser but never knew how.The first movie or the first book.>Comics that is, I dont trust the moviesThen don't bother.
>>154360242>I dont trust the movies (never watched anyWhat the fuck are you talking about? The first Hellraiser is a certified horror classic and is also written and directed by Clive Barker aka the creator of Hellraiser/Hellbound Heart
>>154361551but what the fuck are they? zombies?im asking, is the torture and body horror they endure realistically possible?? i ask because bsdm exists, but I dont know how it workswhat is this "pleasure" they speak of? if they are converted inti zombies or mosnters or whatever the fuck they are, then they are no longer human, thus whatever "pleassure" they claim to have is brainwashing as I see.. Are they humans? yes they, they all were transformed...- well fuck no, I dont see any humans, I see zombies and monsters and demonsthey cant feel pain? then the "pain is pleassure" is bs because there is no pain in the first place lolconfusing as fuck
>>154361765niche books and comics >> mainstream nerfed moviesthis is no deep web hidden obscure shit. cant trust it
>>154361781Everything about the cenobites got retconned multiple times as the series went on. Even by horror franchise standards Hellraiser has totally incoherent lore. Only the original book or the first movie should be considered canon, depending on your preference. Maybe the second movie too, but that's stretching it.
>>154361781They are cenobites is their own kind of demon/dimensional being
anyway what sparked the interest back in me was watching the new Resident Evil movie trailer a while ago and seeing pic related. I feel I once saw a similar cenobite before
>>154362110damm. a shame, truly, it all looks very fascinating
>>154360242You're scared to watch the movie, aren't you?
>>154360242this guy
>>154361807The first movie was more low budget, not exactly a big Hollywood thing and it's basically Barker's vision largely uncompromised by anything but budget. The second movie is also fine. Everything after is awful. There's some ok comics, Gaiman worked on some and Barker himself on others, but I'd be hardpressed to say they're as notable as the first movie and book.
>>154361807I don't know if you are trolling but the first two movies are actually good.Go and watch them, do it now.
>>154362715i dont really watch movies. Always wanted to get into Saw movies too
no
The Hellbound Heart, the original source material, is quite short. It's essentially a novella. It's totally worth reading.
Troll threads used to have effort put into them.

>im a very big fan of hellraisers>but i dont want to watch it or read it >i dont like gore or violence eitherwhat the actual fuck is this mentality and why did it have to be a thread
>>154361456Don't waste you time, looks like he is truly retarded, see: >>154361781 >>154361807 >>154362308
The first thing you have to understand is that Hellraiser is not religious at all despite the name. If anything it borrows quite a bit from Chinese mythology where you get tortured for eternity after you die, sucks to be you but you deserve itThe cenobites are basically classical Goetia demons where one bargains for power at the explicit cost of your immortal soul. These ones all see infinite pain as the eternal and just reward for meddling in matters of the supernatural. One of the other common occurrences is the idea that the bargains can be escaped; the movies toy with the idea that surrogates can be found to suffer in your placeLeviathan showing up in 2 as an abstract and vaguely threatening entity in Hell makes everything more explicitly about greed. After 2 things just go off the rails
