In the 1990s, various MGM Tex Avery characters got revivals, however, all of them had glaring issues that botched them completety from their original theatrical shorts>Droopy got a comeback on Tom & Jerry Kids and Droopy, Master Detective, but its dragged down by Droopy's son Dripple who is basically a miniature version of Droopy and only exists to give exposition. Most of the humor of the show is also dialogue based instead of the more fast-paced visual humor that the old Droopy cartoons are known for. Also, Butch the Dog never appeared once despite being one of Droopy's frequent antagonists, with the show just opting to spam McWolf over and over again.>Screwy Squirrel also got a revival, which is incredibly tone deaf since Avery despised the character. Every fan letter he received for the character he tore and threw away. It's why he killed him off in his last short "Lonesome Lenny.". Even then, this version sucks since it got turned it into a "Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch!" format by putting Screwy in a city park with a groundskeeper and his dog trying to get him out. >George and Junior got turned into a crude mockery of itself with poor animation, overuse of wild takes and aimless slapstick. None of the trademark Tex Avery charm or humor shines in any of these shorts, let alone artstyle>The Wacky World of Tex Avery. Nuff said
The only one of these that is actually disrespectful is Wacky World and that's because it was sold as an homage to his legacy. The first two are segments from mid shows hardly anyone remembers and three is just one of the many Pat Ventura pitches that never got greenlit anyway.
