Are his comics really that good or will /co/ just call him woke and tell me to read more manga instead?https://youtu.be/aDK7exbNeaA?si=szzuKX5RXnrvKqyY
>>154460952This is the only comic book channel I watched that didnt devolve into libtardation and/or clickbait. The other one was Comics Kayfabe who got cancelled and an heroed. MCU ripping off artists suck even if they suck too.
>>154460952I'm not watching your fucking stupid video, fagshill.
Not gonna bother clicking that shit but I enjoy Ed Brubaker works.
>>154461064Would you say his work is good, or just entertaining?Do he had good artists to work with?Is his captain any good?
>>154461085Why don't you read and find out you pedantic fucking attention whoreOP is a fag>hurr is thing le good? Pls make a thread for meDie in pain
>>154460952>Are his comics really that goodBrubaker was one of my first faves when I was first getting into the American funnybooks scene. But if I'm gonna shoot with ya brother a lot of his stuff just hasn't held up over the last twenty. I'd say he's a solid guy who puts out easy to read stuff, and we certainly need more like him. However the only thing pf his I still have in my boxes of his is the Catwoman stuff he done did with the late great Cooke-sensei.
>>154461064He's not a good writer, sadly.
Not watching the video. Brubaker had his hits and misses. New Bucky has his fans, but I don't care for Winter Soldier. Batman Caped Crusader was awful, but I suppose a good number of creative decisions were out of his hands.
>>154461263What have you read from him?
>>154461409Brubaker is listed more as an exec producer, Bruce Timm is the one showrunning Caped Crusader.
>>154462486Brubaker was the story editor/head writer in the same way that Burnett was that for Batman TAS and McDuffie for JLU. He left after the first season though, James Tucker who was already there decided to take up his role.
>>154461085You don't even know what artists he's worked with? Jesus christ go read a fucking comic.
>>154460952His crime comics and shit like Gotham Central were well regarded but it's not a genre I'm particularly interested in so I've never read them. His Marvel stuff sucks though. One of the worst X-Men runs ever and I don't like his Captain America. Shit like Secret Avengers and The Marvels Project are wholly unremarkable and unmemorable.
>>154464199He's Better Bendis, pretty good at street level crime books, lousy whenever he steps outside of that.
>>154460964Have you ever tried Strange Brain Parts?
I confuse him, Rucka, and Azzarello all the time. All the same sort of serious/gritty crime adjacent comics. Kinda boring to me, but I know they're solid quality. Usually have artists that have that really dark/noir style without the style of a Mignola or the sleekness of someone like Dave steven's pulp, which I find dull too.
>>154464199>>154464236I actually like his little stint on Daredevil more than Bendis'
>>154464424Azzarello's comics are extremely easy to distinguish from Rucka's and Brubaker's. He's usually the one that always goes hard on the wordplay. This is not a good or bad thing. It's just what his writing has. Take this page for example.>It's fucking SHIT or get of the POT time.>The POL pot time.>Har Har. You think this is FUNNY?>Absolutely NOT... It's time to SHIT.Or in that Joker graphic novel, where Croc and Joker have a conversation:>You broke?>Nothing WE can't FIX.>Heh. So what needs FIXIN'?>Fixin's... Those are side dishes... You hungry?>ALWAYS.
The Criminal arc about the cartoonist is the only Brub I like so far, but I haven't read everything he's done.
>>154461167plappable
>>154460952What's with the valley girl accent? I will never be able to take Brubaker tough guy comics seriously anymore...
>>154464424Rucka and Brubaker kind of have a similar style of writing, but Azzarello is totally different, he's much better, too.
>>154460952So?
>>154460952He's a safe entry-level pick in whatever genre he dips into. Sticks to the tropes, never going too far or making unexpected twists. I always get the feel that he makes sure that his noir books feel noir-y enough rather than make them interesting. The highs aren't too high but the lows aren't that low either. If he's among your favourites i'd either assume you've not read many comicbooks, or that you're Sam Quixote.
>>154464199Disagree on the his Captain America stuff and Marvels Project. His Cap is pretty good at the beginning. Admittedly, it falls off after Bucky Cap beats Red Skull. Marvels Project was a interesting, but light, retelling of Marvel going from a pulp world to a Superhero world. It's understandable that people may not care about pre-superhero Marvel. Secret Avengers should have just been a Nick Furry book. It's clear from that one issue he really wanted to write Nick Furry doing cool spy stuff. His DC stuff is boring and his indie stuff varies. Criminal Last of the Innocent was cool, Pic related.
