What a swell comic. That Gerber fella sure could spin a yarn. Who's the Gerber of today ya reckon?

>implying anyone in the industry today can match him

One of my absolute favorite cape comics.
>>
>>154461147
Maybe no one could hang with him. But someone who's on the right track at least?
>>154462934
Nice.

>Tired to fight Spider-Man.
>Got told only a fool would do that.
>Tired to kill himself.
Man lived the gimmick.

Gerber walked so Moore could run pretty much
>>
>>154464348
Moore was his successor in some ways, but no one really followed them, which is a shame.

DAMN shame!

I discovered this comic when looking for the source of this panel. The comic itself had some interesting bits. It was a trip to see Kurt spiral into sociopathic behavior as he starts executing thugs and anyone he deems to be enabling them. I don't recall the comic digging too deeply into the moral ambiguity though. The 2007 miniseries by Hurwitz wasn't as interesting to me. It was more of a bog standard Punisher-like vigilante justice story.

Didn't he write Punisher MAX after Ennis?

This guy had his own comic? He was kinda cool in that one issue of ASM, but I thought he shot himself in that one?

>>154464054
Yeah this one, did he survive? I remember he was turned to ash or something
>>
>>154468449
This comic is about that Foolkiller's successor.
>>
>>154468520
Oh right, I remember he had like a predecessor or something. So Foolkiller is a mantle of sorts? What's this run of the character like, is he a good guy or just Punisher with a laser gun?
>>
>>154461126
I know Fantagraphics is focused more the artists but I could see a "creator collection" for Gerber's marvel work
>>
>>154468532
Kind of like Punisher, but unlike Frank he has to wrestle with the morality of his decisions and his slowly draining sanity as he sinks deeper and deeper into vigilantism.
>>
>>154466821
Did this predate Taxi Driver? Similar idea.
>>
>>154471082
No. Taxi Driver is from 1976, and this comic is from 1990.

2007 MAX had some interesting ideas but just felt so far removed from Foolkiller that he may as well made it an all-new character

I hate the 2010s comic's take on Kurt though, but then again since Bendis used him in New Avengers, Kurt hasn't been written accurately so I'm willing to believe it's been a Skrull as Kurt all this time
