What are the chances that this movie will focus too much on the humans?
>>154461770100%, like all animation/live action hybrids. Sonic was especially bad when it came to humans.
>>154461782this. they do this every time because executives keep thinking their movies about humans interacting with cartoons or monsters or aliens or whatever need to have>muh relatable human elementnigga nobody who went to see godzilla wanted to spend an hour and a half of a two hour movie following the sad faggot kick-ass guy around listening to his whiny bullshit; and nobody who goes to a movie where wile e coyote sues the acme company gives a fuck about some snl reject's relationship drama.
>>154462031>relationship dramaWhile only tangentially related, Mating Season was terrible for this exact reason. It's already bad enough that the comedy doesn't land, but when they expect me to take love triangles seriously? That's when I start to check out.
>>154461770>>154462031It's amazing how up their own ass hollywood is to constantly do the same lazy shit over and over and never deviate. It's the 2020's and it's still like the 2000's when it comes to the writing and structure of live action/animation films.
>>154461782>Sonic was especially bad when it came to humansNot really. 2 goes slightly overboard but course corrects for a good third act
>>154462119>2 goes slightly overboardYeah, that's exactly what I was thinking of. Absolutely HATED the wedding subplot, and the film would've been better without it.
>>154461770I imagine we'll probably get some visual gag where a human physically interacts with a toon a handful of times throughout the entire movie, but most of it will be people sitting or standing around and talking and occasionally glancing in the direction of a tennis ball on a stick that informs them where the cartoon character is supposed to be standing, or reaching out and doing a badly mimed handshake with a toon or other easily faked interaction.Who Framed Roger Rabbit proved it could be done, but that it took skill and attention to detail and a truly good set of lead actors to make it work. Every movie that's done a similar "toons in the real world" idea since has always half-assed it with shitty actors.
>>154461770I wouldn't be too bothered by that personally, especially when Coyote vs ACME had to use a cheaper cel-shaded CG style for all the toons. Make it funny or engaging, and I'll be content.
>>154462119What about 3? I haven't seen that one yet
>>154463689that one balances things a little better
>>154462227>image/co/ fucking wets itself over the shit twitter finds progressive and yet people act like this site is any different than them
>>154464850homo
>>154465490if you boil down a picture of a woman to "smirk.jpg" you're part of the problem plaguing everything
>>154462157We've already got the obligatory "Live action lead and cartoon lead in a car so eye contact isn't required" scene in the trailer
>>154465685It's insane how painfully obvious a lazy trend can be but they won't fucking stop doing it. This is so godawful and embarassing.
>>154463689The only non-game character that’s really prominent is Agent Stone. Shadow’s storyline in general provides far more material for a movie than the Genesis games.
>>154463689They figured out a way to make the human element more Sonic oriented by having 2 jim carreys and both representing Sonic characters. It was a smart way to balance "marketable human stuff"/"celebrity casting" with actual Sonic stuff people who just want to fucking watch Sonic the Hedgehog could be fine with. I mean it's still up to individual preference if you like Carry in either role but both characters are undoubtedly reflecting the Sonic side. No completely out of left field "I got my fuckin PUSSY WAXED!" black wedding retardation, even if they tried to jam GUN into it (which was not enough to make it feel warranted or interesting.)
>made in 1988>STILL the best live-action meets toons media
>>154466596Which is crazy because the concept and interest of writing characters with depth has only increased since the 80's but no one's made real progress on that front either. Roger himself is still interesting despite being made at the time of wacky cartoons just being mindless stuff (action cartoons existed but that's obviously not what Roger is.)
>>154465609Keep seething homersexual millennialtroon.
>>154466976It's not that crazy. Zemeckis and Dick Willy are legends for a reason, anon.
>>154461770Still it's going to be a better movie than The Day The Earth Blew Up, even it will be still dogshit. God, what a such an awful and hideous movie.
>>154468036Go back to your own thread, TDTEBUfag.
>>154467759L-LEWD!
>>154461770It won't be good
>>154468076No, it's the truth that is dreadful and unfunny garbage.
>>154461770>Will Forte I'll either love it or despise it
>>154461770it's probably gonna suck but people will glaze it to death because like they spent so much time telling everyone it would be great so they don't wanna look silly
>>154461782>>154462031>>154462055>>154462086I thought it was obvious it's cheaper to film people with a camera than animate cartoons
>>154462031It’s because these are live action movies. They are live action movies using animation for special effects. It’s not about animation.
>>154465685>hey... should we, like, construct scenes that will allow us to showcase our cartoon characters and human characters interacting in a way that grounds them in a shared reality and helps engross the audience in the world we're creating?>lol shut the fuck up and just put them in a car so our actors just have to stare directly ahead instead
>>154466596We've had Hollywood fuck up every single aspect of the filmmaking process so badly these days that Roger Rabbit feels like ancient technology from a long-lost civilization that was more advanced that we were.
>>154470829https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtfHaJKW1zQthis one scene is everyone basically flexing their various skills just because >had roger hit the ceiling light so the light source is constantly moving giving the animators extra work to properly shade and light roger>bob hoskin is the one who is moving the box and then making it stop moving when roger helps hold it all the while acting to empty space the whole time too
>>154470871Don't forget the swinging light, drastically complicating the animation and requiring multiple more passes that are all perfectly timed to the scene also
>>154469066How can you be so sure?
>>154471958NTA but the odds of a movie that was shitcanned for taxes being good enough to live up to years of hype are pretty low.
