Undoing the marriage was the least destructive change made to Spider-Man during OMD. The changes made during Brand new day were far worse. The easiest proof of this is the fact that the vast majority of these changes had to be undoe during nick spencer's run. The characters like kraven and harry osborn were quote returned to the dead and black cat's knowledge of peter's idenity was returned.

Unlike the marriage, these changes were inherently exist to undo and regress past storytlines of great importance.

While Undoing the marriage sees you search return spider-man to some idealized younger version of himself,

This is a Perch video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eATeqF-lPC4&t=646s

Its also the wrong take. The loss of the marriage WAS the worst thing to come out of it. Aunt May had already been killed off and they brought her back prior to OMD that was during the Byrne run.

They Annihalated Peters children and desecrated his marriage. it is an evil story and one where the hero lost and has yet to recover.

You are wrong The loss of the marriage was NOT the worst thing but rather the changes made Brand new day were Kraven and harry never should been restored back to life. Oh but I suppose in harry's case it does not really matter does it given fans latter found out that harrry was nothing but another clone in reality. the truth stinges does it not?

More was lost by removing the marriage. Harry was easily retconned.

the Entire franchise needs to reset to the begining

Ok so you hate Brand New Day for undoing years of story progression but are completely fine with getting rid of Spider-Man’s marriage which also undoes several years of story progression? Plus there was a younger version of Spider-Man at the time without the marriage, it was the Ultimate Spider-Man.

The comments section of that video had some pretty interesting points

>I know I’ve posted this before but the most destructive change done by OMD for me was to long term readers as it showed that marvel could now just snap their fingers and forget decades of back story since their new writers were increasingly less knowledgeable about the characters they were writing than the people buying the book. Now there seemed little point following a book beyond one writer or one storyline since they now have this president of binning their own history as they go, and you could point to the now common short runs for books as a repercussion of this.

Another person says:
> They actually tell new X-Men writers they can ignore everything prior to Morrison's New X-Men. I'm guessing the same holds true for Spider-Man and OMD.

And another says:
>I think there is something to say that OMD was the embodiment of everything Joe Q wanted Marvel to be.
>Stories that are easy to set back to status quo for the next run

>BND
Slott made Mephisto less relevant in BND. Get the fuck out.
>>
>>154468509
This is due to Mephisto himself. OMIT was still Mephisto.
>>
The hero is tainted, and his soul is canonically still screaming on every panel since 2008.
I'll say that's pretty fucking bleak.
But for the meta itself, it's an indictment on the medium. Absolute casual reader repellent. Nothing has greater killed swathes of possible general interest more than a brief summary of Spider-Man events since 2008. Everything is schlock and slop. Nothing matters. By DESIGN nothing fucking matters.
>>
There was no reason to add the fact that they sacrificed their unborn child for the devil. Why did they even add that in?
>>
>>154468686
JMS I think was REALLY trying to scream from the pages and ensure a retcon or address in the future.
He underestimated just how little a shit the cabal give. Look at how little Slott cared about the previous franchise pillars when he can fellate Otto?
>>
>>154465630
Harry should be alive and if you're going to bring back Kraven, there's no going back. Clone Kraven is fucking dumb, just accept that Kraven is back.

>the marriage WAS the worst thing to come out of it
The actual worst part is all the editorial mandates. Because Spider-Man has to be a "young" 28 year old manchild, there are no stories like Kraven's Last Hunt, Death of Jean DeWolff, etc. anymore. Only Daredevil is allowed to have serious stories with social commentary, and a girlfriend that lasts at least the duration of a single run. Instead, Spider-Man goes to space and has a supervillain cousin and Norman had his sins magically eaten so he becomes a teacher to Miles and alt-universe Gwen Stacy.
>>
>>154468635
So does Miles want to be Spider-Man or not? Make up your mind or get the fuck out as I already told you to do.
>>
>>154468825
its interesting that niether Batman or superman have been replaced by niggers, but Peter Parker has been replaced by both Miles morales and Paul Rabin.
>>
>>154469576
Miles and Paul are both multiverse refugees now that you think about it.
>>
>>154468248
For a company that was shitting on DC a lot during the 2000s they sure love trying to make their stories more like Golden/Early Silver Age DC where the stories are mostly inconsequential
>>
>>154471489
Marvel soft rebooted during the 00s, it isn't the same company.
>>
Legit, is there any comic as destructive as One More Day?
>>
>>154471651
I know but they were taking shots at DC and at the time wanted to be the old DC
>>
>>154465630
1/3rd of Spiderman readers stopped reading Spiderman after this and never came back. It was a bad decision. It was never a good decision. It will never be looked back on as a good decision.

Going in deeper they already did a storyline before this slop where Aunt May died and it was handled far better.

Identity crisis.

Atleast it led to Blackest Night.
