The advantage is that we got speed and a lot of copied talented voices to work with. The disadvantage is that it takes forever to get it *right*. The voices only sound good when they think they're singing. That's why ElevenLabs and other voice AI suck at it because they're not performing and have that typical monotone voice all inexperienced voice "actors" have.Problem is that music-focused AI will keep trying to shove music into it. Which isn't a dead-end, the music can be removed. It's a nightmare for a perfectionist. However not as much of a nightmare as trying to convince a hobbyst internet voice dubber to get some voice acting lessons from a real voice director.
