And characters like MJ and Peter aren't too different until the symbiotes happen. Peter becomes a scientist who helps study them for the gov and gives them powers until he grows paranoid and sequesters himself away while MJ goes on to become a supermodel for symbiotes and sex icon until the system and civilization starts to fall part because of human emotions being too strong for symbiotes. MJ is protag but Peter is the side character who helps bail everyone out with his mcguffin. Other heroes help out like Iron Man and Thor. Peter is the one to give symbiotes spider powers through science rather than having the powers himself. And MJ becomes a yandere at one point forcing Peter to go on a stealth mission to evade her. Perhaps in a drive-in, school, or factory.
