>Sigurd Jarlson has love, friendship and a human soul. The man called Blake has none of these...but he has the one thing his enemy doesn't. Donald Blake knows exactly who and what he is...and he's ready to tell Sigurd everything.

I still don’t like what they did to Donald Blake, it was a simple story about Thor learning humility being forced to earth as a cripple and now he’s some sort of evil god of lies? Did they ever write a family for Donald Blake? I know he’s just the discarded remnants of Stan lees idea to rip off Superman but I feel like Blake was used for like 5 years forgotten for 30 then turned evil by a recent edge lord
>>
>>154484487
Funny enough, this story seems to address your very problem.
>>
So where exactly do we go after this?
Will it be back to the status quo from before All-Father Thor with Odin back alive and Mjonir having its Worthiness enchantment again?
>>
>>154484487
Yeah, they really fucked him over, to be honest. I don't think Donald actually did anything to deserve his really awful fate.
>>
>>154484145
I like this retcon, because OF COURSE the Serpent was lying.
>>
So Jormungandr used Blake's dreamscape to escape death and be birthed anew? And due to the Cates run events, Thor's death hard reset both Thor and Blake? Is that how I understand it?
>>
>>154484145
>>154484139
Thank you Ewing
I knew I could trust you with Donald Blake and his actual personality.
>>
>>154484163
Now that's a good twist
I honestly didn't see it coming
>>
>>154484624
Going by the solicit for Thor #801 Thor is dead and in Hel. Donald/Sigurd is going to Hel to bring him back.
>>
So Blake has been dead or his soul at least since he was a head trapped in the dream realm and everything since was the world snake puppet in his body?
>>
>>154485057
Jormungandr's been parading in his soul/body during Cates run, touched by his resentment to Thor.

So if Jormungandr was posing as Blake since Cates run, what happened to the symbiote?
>>
>>154485352
It wasn't an actual symbiote was it? It was like the Snake's venom mixed with symbiote matter and hell magic promethium metal

I assume it's the black goop that's been coming out his eyes >>154484150
>>
>>154485352
>So if Jormungandr was posing as Blake since Cates run, what happened to the symbiote?
Its not that simple. It was Blake combined with Jormungandr, he was fully Donald Blake until the moment Thor reincarnated Donald into his own body. That said, I thought all the symbiote matter was mixed into Hellnir and Thor used it for sending Don's soul back to earth
>>
>>154484681
Jormungandr hitched a ride onto Donald Blake slowly filling himself into Don. Thor's death did not do anything but after Thor's death since Don's mortal soul still was there, he reincarnated that into Thor's own body to create Sigurd Jarlson. What remains of Blake is in Jarlson but Jarlson is his own person, the body of Donald Blake was destroyed in this issue so what's left of him is Jormungandr with Donald's memories
>>
>>154485057
Donald Blake didn't "die" until Thor reincarnated his soul. After the soul was gone, all that remained was Jormungandr and his body, and the body is gone too now
>>
>>154484487
>>154484569
>>154484643
I think Ewing will eventually just merge both souls into a "full Thor" or something. Blake was always intended to be Thor's extension so when Thor comes back, he'd be both Thor and Donald Blake (or in this life Sigurd Jarlson)

>>
>>154484163
So Thor basically reincarnated Donald at the end of Immortal Thor?
>>
>>154486585
He was decent but the stories he's attached to are ass, and he's attached to another ass story with PKJ's "Hulk" run. Maybe he'll be a good fit for Thor but bad stories have kind of ruined his art for me. It is a me problem though. I want to see someone new too, as long as they don't try to copy the shitty Aaron run

>>
>>154484487
Anon this entire story is trying to fix Blake after Fraction and Cates tried to ruin him
>>
>>154484487
I've always felt the same, so it's quite nice to see Ewing likely felt similarly and is actually doing something about it.
There has finally been justice for Donald Blake in our times.
>>
>>154487802
I mean Donald Blake is dead now, his soul has been given a new life. And whatever was left of him apart from the soul was shed away by the snake he ate
>>
>>154488413
Sigurld is Donald reincarnated, the narrative explicitly points it out. Everything heroic and kind that Sigurld has done is something Donald would have done. With the caveat that he hasn't learned humility yet - like Donald did thanks to the injury he lived with.
>>
At this rate just give a Aquaman Thor crossover under Ewing and Adams and let it be about Ancient Gods and Titans.
>>
>>154484212
I WISH FOR A PAIR OF GIRLS' PANTIES!
>>
>>154488459
Yeah it is Donald Blake's reincarnation, but reincarnations are not the same people
>>
>>154484122
Neat

I really need to catch up on this series.
>>
>>154484163
Oooooooh that’s actually a lot more cooler and made that scene of Donald being a full on serpent monster more clearer
>>
>>154488459
What exactly is humility supposed to mean in this case? Sigurd doesn't seem to revel in his strength.
>>
>>154489436
Potato, potatoe
Thor will neither be the same person when he's eventually reborn. If you read Agent of Asgard you know Ewing really loves "ego death" and using Jungian psychology concepts on his stories. The Loki we see in this story isn't the same Loki from Agent of Asgard, neither the Loki from Cates stories. Marvel characters (and particularly, gods) are creatures of narrative, defined more by the stories told around them than any sense of individual identity.
>>
>>154489786
Yeah that's why I find it bittersweet. Original Blake's been discarded essentially after the stuff he had to endure, he got a new life but his old life was quite literally shed in this issue.
>>
>>154489736
He went after the Sons of the Serpent out of the damaged pride that they were taking Thor's name in vain. He could have reasoned that they were dangerous, but still wait until they were an actual threat to him instead of going whack a mole with their heads immediately afterwards. Odin explicitly calls it out.
>>
>>154489844
You are confusing the new nazi biker gang with the Sons of the Serpent. Those are two different groups, and the Bikers did say they were going to kill everyone involved with Sigurd(he didn't hear that last part though)
>>
>>154484176
>>154484180
That's fucking sick actually
>>
>>154484150
Of course the best Riddler in years is in a Thor comic
>>
>>154489882
Regardless him not hearing the last part is what points out to him lacking humility
At that point he was just dealing revenge instead of acting to protect others

>>
>>154484487
If Donald Blake has a soul, and that soul was crafted by Odin himself, then shouldn't he be considered another brother to Thor? Who cares if he doesn't have a "mom"? It's God shit.
>>
>>154485057
Sigurd Jarlson is Donald Blake reincarnated as a human man, not Thor Odinson.
The actual, real Thor is in the afterlife. Sigurd had a dream where the real Thor talked to him.

Probably the end of this run has Blake/Jarlson being accepted as Thor's brother. Or getting merged with him again.
>>
>>154485352
This is the "cracks" Jormungandr mentioned. The details aren't that important.

So obviously they're going to resurrect Thor by merging his soul with Sigurd/Donald's so I'm curious what that means going forward

Will he be back to having a mortal identity again that he changes back into when separated from Mjolnir too long
>>
>>154492784
He was stuck in Valhalla, but he managed to escape and can never go back now

>Encircler beneath of every land
This is a similar description to the dragon of the moon, which Ewing used to trap Hermes perpetually on a loop "encircling" one of Groot's vowels. I wonder if he's trying to make both of them related.

The earth serpent and the dragon of the moon. Honestly the fact that no one had thought of that before is funny.

>>154498127
Something simple like

>next issue is real final test
>Thor comes back
>>
>>154500710
Blake's been the focus since he asked "What did you do to my soul". Him being beaten in one issue does not work
>>
So apparently, the Marvel wikia pretty much consider Sigurd to be Donald Blake.
>>
>>154501104
