Why is American Dad so much better than Family Guy?
in case anyone wonders, the pic related is shit I did with Blender for fun
>>154520576It's not as obnoxiously political as family guy despite that the premise was perfectly ripe for it
>>154520576Do you have any idea how low a bar that is?
>>154520576White wins
>family guyGore = Funny>American DadDrunk Roger is based
>>154520576It went from Seth seething about Bush winning to an actually funny and sincere show.
>>154520576I heard the good writers went from Family Guy to American Dad.
>>154520592It looks pretty good wish I could use blander that well
>>154521203Thanks, I thought it did look neat.I actually wanted to use this for a YouTube video, but I figured it would weird out people.
>>154520576It never had a shitty mmo
I consider it a strength of a show if you can throw any combo of the main cast together and it would work no problem. AD can do that really good. FG I dunno. A Klaus Steve Franny ep sounds fun. A Meg Brian Lois I dunno...
>>154521444That's actually something I noticed as well.Like Family Guy doesn't even try to pair people.90% episode are justA plot with Peter and the Boys, while Stewie and Brian get B plotSometimes Lois gets C plot, but typically exist as an antagonist to A plot, while Chris and Meg make cameos
>>154520576> Why is American Dad so much better than Family Guy?Conflict is funny. Most of the best comedies require some form of conflict. A lot of the American Dad stories have conflict. Often between Roger and Stan. Roger is like this troll that causes a lot of conflict in most stories he's in. A lot of Family Guy stories are fairly "meh" because they don't have conflict, and the conflicts really aren't all that interesting either. There is typical husband wife stuff, and maybe some liberal conservative stuff. But there really isn't any major conflict stories in Family Guy.
>>154520576Despite having the more grounded main cast of the two, American Dad's is more versatile and also houses dynamics between the characters that aren't exhausting like Family Guy's can be at the hands of a disinterested writer (which is often).
>>154520576Roger
>>154520576American Dad's cast is more diverse and often has better pairings that feel properly in character. Family Guy has devolved to the point that every member of the family and some of the cast outside of it are full blown sociopaths. At the drop of a hat anyone of the characters will throw a joke like "This is better than pushing in the soft spots of babies". Literally any member could say that and any member will go "Who the fuck says that?" as if there's a dynamic, which there isn't. Francine or Roger could say that, Francine is funny cause she's just a housewife who should be the one you'd trust with your baby but she's probably the last one you'd want to, and Roger is funny cause his personas imply that he's doing this on a city, maybe even state-wide level. Family Guy doesn't have dynamics so much as it has holes. Holes any character could be plopped in and serve the exact same purpose as any other member. Peter and Lois? Peter does something dumb, Lois corrects him. Lois and Chris? Lois is trying to do something she's out of her league in doing. Chris has to set her straight. Chris and Meg? Chris is trying to do something strange, Meg corrects him. The only two that don't fall into that is Brian and Stewie, who just became douche and baby. American Dad has conflicting character personalities that go well together as they either compliment or fight against each other. Stan the straight man and his nerdy dork son. Francine the obsessive manic housewife and talking dudebro fish Klaus. Haley the dope smoking liberal and an alien that can be either a sassy Roger or any number of personas that can push the plot.>tldr, combine any Family Guy character and you get an expectant plot. Combine any American Dad character and it can go anywhere.
GOOD MORNING U S A
>>154520576It is NOT because Stan isn't just a Homer clone, it's the writing. The jokes rely less on explaining the punchline followed by an unnecessary cutaway made redundant by aforementioned punchline. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRBaMgCmBiE
>>154520576Ted clears anyway.
>>154524464agree
>>154521666Anyone else a little bit was lost when American Dad's style grew more stiff and uniform? The show still looks fine, but just not nearly as charming as in its early days. Back then, you could still believe it was animated on paper. For some reason, I don't have that same issue with Family Guy's new eps. That show has evolved into a pretty healthy present art and animation style
>>154527466I'm not sure what you mean
>>154527466I'm more offended by that shitty CG flag animation in the new updated intro for FOX
>>154527902Has anyone uploaded a side-by-side comparison?
>>154528416I haven't
>>154526513Season 3 WHENNNN
>>1545304452035 if we're lucky
>>154520592Cool! It would be easy to make a mod for Tabletop Simulator as well
>>154531293I guess but I feel it is easier to make thing look good on Blender
>>154524464CG Stan weirds me out...
>>154524184the alien?
>>154532447No, the Uncle.
Stan Smith is an attractive main character, unlike Peter Griffin. And I say that as a gay chubby chaser.
>>154534646maybe you like Daddies more than you like Chubbies.
>>154535365Maybe...
