So while I do hope it’s written as the last, I don’t have much faith in the writing team considering they made the potential last volume that was only made because of a save from Crunchyroll a filler volume. Literally nothing from V9 is going to matter in V10, we’ll probably only get a minor reference to Jaune being old temporarily and Neo being gone.

There's really nothing worth saving in RWBY. Basically every halfway decent piece of the show is lifted from another property and even the big broad pitch of anime school for monster hunters is generic as hell. How is the actually immortal, supreme magical witch who can control the creatures that dominate most of the world not casually steamrolling kingdoms without effort? Where the fuck is all the food coming from that kids just wasting shit tons of it in a food fight is a silly gag?RWBY's own premise is undermined in the very first trailer when a teenager can slaughter Grimm by the dozens, alone, without much effort and without a fucking scratch. Imagine a Evangelion that opens with a half-trained Asuka just casually 1v50ing angels while smirking--and then having the show turn around and go "omg Angels are such a threat! What if they invade?!" Neither Monty nor MK had the wherewithal to think actually think through anything they were ideating so if you glance past face value on ANYTHING in the entire show it just ceases to make any sense.

I always thought it would've been fitting if Qrow was Ruby's biological father and Tai and Summer got together after both being separately abandoned by their respective Branwen baby momma/daddy. It's absolutely in-character for Qrow to get unlucky and accidentally knock up his teammate, run off because he's scared of being around a baby with his semblance, and then come back later to play the role of cool uncle as an excuse to be around his daughter as much as he's comfortable with. And it naturally explains why he's so attached to Ruby in particular. Plus there's more resemblance between Ruby and Qrow than her and Tai, though that can be shrugged off since Ruby is effectively just a clone of her mother in either case.But did they ever word of god deny Qrow being Ruby's dad? I get the feeling they did, but my memory is hazy. I guess either way we're kinda too late into the story for it to matter that much.
