What's wrong with it? All I hear is Tom King is horrible.
>>
Tom King is cheap, yes. But I'm also tired of people calling that wonky soulless art good.
>>
>>154521563
They gave the character that embodies peace and equality to the guy obsessed with war and paper thin strong mommywifes
>>
>>154522219
Did he really make her a mommy wife
>>154522033
You don't like the art
>>
>>154522219
Right because WW stories are all about not fighting? She doesn’t famously have an arc nemesis whose whole deal is war?
>>
>>154521563
I was enjoying King's WW despite is usual bad tendencies until this Matriarch arc that's set in the future. It feels like something that should be in a Wonder Woman Beyond type comic instead of mainline WW.

Also, having the Matriarch take over the world and get all her wins off screen or hand waved with explanations that don't make sense does nothing to make her seem like a credible threat or actual character.

>Also, having the Matriarch take over the world and get all her wins off screen or hand waved with explanations that don't make sense does nothing to make her seem like a credible threat or actual character.

Except the comic does show parts of her doing just that. Plus it’s a storyline set in the fucking future, it’s normal time skip trope.

>>154521563
she had a lame kid with bum ass steve and then killed herself, also he made her talk like starfire
>>
>>154521563
His OC's all suck
>>
>>154523930
Her arch nemesis is Cheetah and she does try to not fight her
>>
>>154524599
I wish she had a kid in the normal way. Just repeating her own origin felt lame.
>>
Outside the Azzarello years, the run was better than everything release since Simone left, which is an low as fuck bar.
And thankfully Absolute WW happened, because people would have spam King's run at the same level of Perez , Jimenez or Messner-loebster
>>
>Villian takes defeat every other hero offscreen
>Villian takes over the world
>Hero alone goes strait forward after villian
>Hero win fights agaisnt hords of stormtroopers
>Hero wins fight agaisnt Villian that is stronger than before.
>>
he basically turned the book into a What If lol
it's like you can consider none of it happened, only could have happened in the future
>>
>>154525110
>OC's
Not how plural acronyms work.
>>
>>154521563
You know how stories can be enjoyable either because they are fun, or because they are engaging enough to really grab your attention?

Tom King's Wonder Woman is way too depressing to be fun, and way too poorly done and boring to be otherwise compelling
>>
>>154524107

It's not earned. Nothing in King's WW is earned. Things just happen for no reason.
>>
>>154521563
This is my answer in brief (cont)
>>154529426
To give you a more full reason, the plots chosen - and many of the decisions in those plots - are mostly illogical.
The villains are all terrible. The Soveriegn is this old dude who has 'the lasso of lies' and is apparently the newest king in a line of kids which have secretly ruled America this whole time. That's dumb. Then they bring Mouse Man back and make him really edgy. Also stupid. Now there's this Matriarch woman who is really lame visually and feels cheap because issue after issue is spent showing this random woman beat every superhero and villain and becoming le strongest. Until she looses the first fight she has with Diana.

This whole volume is very much about Steve Trevor, but he was dead for most of it. So the story revolved around this guy despite him not being in it. Steve Trevor is a fine love interest with some major issues which hold him back, like his lack of a clear dynamic with Diana, and a job which often keeps him out of Diana's stories. Neither have been fixed.

The narration is ridiculously awful. It is non-stop and it almost never actually matters to the plot. There's just text boxes for the sake of text boxes. This is a Tom King staple apparently.
They did a whole story line, it was the Mouse Man storyline, where Mouse Man made it so this whole island nation can only say "Mice have ears," and "Mouse Man knows." So that's literally 90% of every dialogue box and it's annoying as shit.

This is not, by any means, an exhaustive list of why Tom King's Wonder Woman sucks

I know a lot of people on this board and /trash/ would have loved a pregnant Diana arc.
Personally I like the clay thing with a mix of Steve and Diana's DNA.
But I wish that her having the baby was a bigger part of the story. Like it would have been cooler if that was the main thing. Say Diana goes to Paradise Island with Steve and raises Elizabeth Trevor for a few years. Maybe Themyscira does some time dilation spell so Diana won't be gone too long, then there could be a 'reign of the wonder women' and several of the other Amazons and the Wonder Girls try to fill her shoes. Show this while also showing Steve, Diana, and their daughter build a family
>>
>>154528310
sorry :(
>>
>>154529631
But then a huge chunk of her fan base would complain about her basically going on maternity leave
>>
>>154530046
The Wonder Woman fanbase will bitch about anything.
And also, I think having a superhero go on maternity leave would be an interesting storyline
Wouldn't need to last too long, just long enough to skip the baby stage of her daughter's life, and make her old enough to have a personality and hang with the supersons
>>
>>154523930
WW is about morality plays on gender and control. She ties people up, wrestles, shouts holla and jumps really high, the amazons ride giant kangaroos.
>>
>>154529631
>>154530131
This sounds unironically wonderful
>>
>>154529631
Steve becoming Diana's stay at home husband is probably the closest you'd get
>>
>>154521563
>>154521563
jesus christ that art is hideous. what is that face. you can tell its a 3d model they traced over, but the fucking chest piece odesnt fucking fit properly. the eagle wing points are different on a breast plate. her boobs are nonexistent. some weird blip on the left side, nothing on right. fucking bracers are different sizes and dont match what she uses and is known for. the tiara is wrong. this fucking third world shitter just tracing and giving nof ucks while cashing his checks. even the lasso is just retarded overlapping lines that dont connect properly. people pay for this level of trash. hilarious.
>>
Was Post-Rebirth Diana always this obsessed with Steve?
>>
Maybe DC should admit that Diana is a bad character and kill her off.
>>
>>154529592
>and a job which often keeps him out of Diana's stories
his job was part of most of Wonder Woman's stories when they were previously a couple, that's the problem with modern takes that try to follow the post-Crisis narrative hyperfocused on myth shit while also including Steve, and even then he was still better integrated in Perez' run.
>>
>>154532094
They should nail down what the fuck she is first.
