>>154531102Whether it succeeds or fails isnt my concern. I'm more eager to know what the story will even be. Hollywood's decay is plain as day. The hour has grown late for the entire "industry". So what story could you possibly tell in an already belated sequel based off a TV show that most agree has already been long in the tooth for over 15 years now? I fully expect a heavy relliance on Bartmania nostalgia and call backs to early seasons. Beyond that? I cant begin to fathom what a wet blanket this will be.
>>154531102The Simpsons were already past its prime in 2007, tho.
Lisa has almost no purpose in the first movie. She's just there
>>154531236Yeah the sentiment had been around for nearly a decade even by then. Doing this now is even more braindead. Talk about striking when the iron is cold.
>>154531282The same can be said for her throughout the entire series. She's such an insufferable character. One can only assume she'll be a major focus in this disaster
>Best kiss of my life>Best kiss of your life so far
>>154531228Someone gave a "leak" about how it'd be a big family secret relating to Sideshow Bob and Maggie iirc. I mean I don't put much stock in it but I figure that's a direction to consider looking, something that acts like a "bombshell" (the first movie did this with "a secret will be revealed" just over homer's pig shit) and using the last remaining character anyone cares about and that's entirely due to his VA.
>>154531102Maybe this will pull another Simpsons Movie and be surprisingly passable despite the zombification
>>154531372Futurama 3D really does suck
>>154531102How many nostalgic Bartmania millenials would go see it after not seeing the show past season 10 max, only to be severely disappointed that Bart doesn't say "don't have a cow, man" anymore and lost his edge?
>>154531722Most everyone these days knows the show is bad, of course millenials are aware. It'd be shit like your old dad who fell out of the show by the 2010's who might want to go see it. Anyone who uses the damn internet knows and has seen/discussed it ad naseum.
>>154531102I’m 99% sure it will be a Star Wars parody like what Family Guy did
>>154531586>how it'd be a big family secret relating to Sideshow Bob and Maggie iircI know cucktalk is super tired on this point and I'm not trying to be funny/annoying. But could they do a secret father reveal?
>>154531767That works for TV movies and little events like that, not a theatrical adaptation of your show. If anything Family Guy would be the only one who could get away with it since that show lives off pop culture references and barely forms its own episodic structure anymore. Even the original idea for a Simpsons Movie 2 with Kang and Kudos wasn't trying to be a star wars parody.
I've always wondered but why is Simpsons the show that has all the on-model autists? Why did they all seethe so hard at Klasky-Csupo? Yeah it was a bit rough sometimes but they did turn in really smooth cartoony stuff or really smooth nuanced facial expressions like that babysitter. I know part of it is budget, part of it is the satire of American sitcom families looking ok on the surface but then turning out to be dysfunctional personalities. But do you guys think some of that will return for this movie to justify the movie? I could see that happening. But also yes, most likely it will not. I just think shit like Smiling Friends shows that animation being more ambitious in comedy cartoons is something that might be expected by modern and younger audiences. Unless y'know this is a movie that is just seeking to make a moderate sum that only appeals to those who are old. I just think rather than the extra shading and 3D environments, I'd like to see more cartoonish faces and actions instead.
>>154531102It'll do fine. The novelty of getting a 2D film alone will help Simpsons Movie 2. I think we can also expect they'll try their hardest to make this thing work since it's their last chance to prove they've "still got it."
Imagine hearing these aging fucking voice actors in dolby stereo sound
>>154532062I wonder if they'll find an excuse to keep Marge offscreen for a large majority of it.
>>154532062I mean, Marge’s voice was already hard to listen to in the first movie… and that was twenty years ago.
>>154532062Marge's VA already sounds like she's struggling to breathe or at least did when I watched the anime themed halloween special. It's going to be eerie if any of them die before the movie airs
>>154532062Marge's bloody frog voice makes my skin crawl at normal volume. AI would unironically be better.

>>154532062in 2007 the simpsons was over the hill and trashy. it was basically every bad word you could call an aging sitcom. but it wasn't really cringeworthy in a weird, depressing way like the modern show is. at a certain point 10 or so years ago the show transitioned from being bad to a really cloying perversion that makes you want to immediately change the channel..
>>154531102>blood in the TEASER POSTER Yeahhh the comedy in this is gonna suuuuuck...
I think the novelty of it being the first 2d movie since, what? The Bobs Burgers movie? Will help sell it.
>>154531722>>154531743With disney up against a wall they better not cuck out on the bartmania angle because that's all this movie has. In all honesty they'ed be best advised ignoring the last 20 years worth of canon and writing the movie as though it were a product of 1996.
>>154531767That would be suicidal at this point>>154531979What if it fails? For the sake of conversation let's say it was s supergirl level underperformer. Would that be enough to put the Simpsons out to pasture?
>>154532509No. It would just mean no Simpsons 3 movie for another 20 years.
>>154532062Seems like as good a time as any to start using AI voices for these characters>>154532211Yeah that's when the same crop of left-leaning millenials that ruined everything else got jobs on the show.
>>154531102>Lisa points to shading on her arm>"Oh look, we're in a movie again!">Marge says "Oh don't be silly Lisa" in a YouTube shorts AI voice
>>154532528>2057>Simpsons Movie 3 announced>The octogenarian millenials and middle aged zoomers dont even blink at its announcement and go on about their lives
>>154532493>Biggest entertainment company>Still needs California taxdollars
>the shitsons 2 is on my birthdaywhat did i do to deserve such a present?
>>154532509The Bob's Burgers Movie bombed big time and it had no effect on the show itself. Pretty sure Loren knew it would flop and was just glad it got released
>>154531102
It’s gonna be huge. We’re gonna get burger king toys again, 7 eleven kwik e marts and a remaster of simpsons hit and run. You know we gonna get something like they did for that toy story game collection.
>>154532595Naked Bart in the first movie. Naked Lisa in the second movie.
>>154532563Almost like it's all a big scam at taxpayer expense>>154532573You touched yourself at night>>154532575Ah fuck that's a good point. There goes the only silver lining this shit pile had going for it.
>>154532618I'm honestly more excited for all that than the movie itself. Kinda depressing that all that's left to enjoy these days are the promotional tie ins.
Remember how recently they did the Joker parody... 7 years after the movie's release once all the hype died down and Folie a Deux completely raped the Joker as a character (both literally and figuratively)? And they chose skinny Homer for the role. Not Krusty, not Sideshow Bob, not even Moe.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY0QydHQBFk
>>154532595The really liked naked Bart
>>154532532>Yeah that's when the same crop of left-leaning millenials that ruined everything else got jobs on the show.while that could be part of it, I think there's no real accounting for a show being on way too long. even with the best intentions and best taste the show would roughly be where it's at right now, unwatchable abomination.
>>154531228I'd expect an origin story that soft reboots the franchise.>First hour is about Homer moving to Springfield in 2022 or so, lying to his father about finishing college, borrowing from the mob, scamming Burns to get a job, generally meeting random people who have new, cheaper voice actors, canonize some things, retcon some others, etc.>Marge is pregnant with Lisa and isn't doing much, maybe she finally makes some friends while we're at it, but she and Bart can discover some mystery about the town, I don't know let's say they discover Burns is an immortal Aztec vampire by finding the ruins of a temple in the basement of a Chinese buffet or something>The taco place next door has the tomb of an immortal Chinese alchemist below it as a joke>Also she's voiced by someone else too, they gave her the painkillers which make kids autistic but it fucks with her vocal cords too>Part 2 is a few years later>Lisa is 4 but is already applying to MIT in a small subplot with unfunny jokes in it but you gotta have Lisa doing something these days>Homer's web of lies is exposed and it causes drama and explosions but it's resolved through song and stuff set up in part 1>Ends with Marge announcing she's pregnant with Maggie as they ride into the sunset>And crash into it, it was an ad for an insurance company>Also they conceived her in the secret Aztec temple so Maggie has a prophecy saying she must battle Burns to the death over space crystals>It's never brought up again
