Yeah fucking Simpsons and South Park did it, but who fucking cares, just gimme something to break this weak ass A-plot up a little, goddamn.
The new episode preview shows that next week's ep could be promising. Well I guess that's par for the course with the final 3 episodes for each season

Not bad as a concept, but done before. Kind of cozy as a whole but totally lacking in humor. Fine to turn your brain off to but had plot holes. It felt a lot like when they did the Purge episode in two days because they needed another one to round out the season, and just did something simple and wrote around it, only this one they decided to focus solely on the evolution concept and mostly ignore the dialogue around it.

It would explain how life can evolve and develop so quickly, and it would explain how the planet is governed by a tree god. It would also explain how Rick & Morty, and everybody else trapped there, were probably only stuck there for like a couple weeks, months, maybe a couple years max for some of the people, "in real time".
