Porn and lesbian shippers. She caters to straights and gays.

I don't know why but trimmed eyebrows that you can see are so hot in my opinions, I blame the symmetry autism.
Also she wears lenses right? I was always bad at noticing them

>yet she remains extremely popular a decade after her series ended
Her original show bombed and lost 3/4ths of its viewership and then when it re-released on Netflix alongside ATLA it bombed again, and now she's just used as an example of when animation started going wrong.

I don't think "Popular" is the right word here, unless you think Velma the show is popular. People bring that one up all the time and it's been dead for years.
>>
>>154546975
Seriously.

>People quote "Somehow palpatine returned" all the time, and it's been seven years! That must mean people really like Rey!

Try that shit in the theater and see how many tickets show up.

How does a finished show bomb?
Aren't any views good enough at that point? Like MASH might not be Disney's most popular program, but I don't think it bombed for them.
>>
>>154546714
>Brown Tomboy
Red, technically. Water Tribes are ethnically the same as north american natives. So Korra is red, not brown.
>>
>>154547115
What if I told you that “brown” was in reference to the colour of her skin, and not her perceived relationship to an ethnic group that she doesn’t belong to and doesn’t exist within her universe?

The character sure, the show not really. It’s definitely playing second fiddle to The Last Airbender
>>
>>154547097
>How does a finished show bomb?
Because when it released alongside Atla during Netflix, Atla was top 1 for over 3 months and stayed in the top 20 animation for TWO YEARS

Korra wasn't even in top 10 by 2 months and in that "What you're watching" they did 4 months later it had dropped down to sub 100 in total listings. Apparently it didn't even get finished on most accounts that started it. Korra came in almost a decade later with fresh eyes and a way to watch the whole thing all in one go and a whole ass other generation, and even though Last Airbender gave it a massive boost while it was tearing up Netflix, people just dropped it. Again. It happened TWICE that people just dropped it en mass, across different generations.

>Aren't any views good enough at that point?
For a streaming service? One thing streaming hates is people dropping a show, because then there's no way they'll pay to renew and rewatch or see more of it. Guess what happened to Korra, again. 3/4ths lost one go round was already brutal but they brought her out of retirement to dunk on her all over again while giving Aang another award.
>>
>>154547177
>Korra's really popular outside of 4chan.
Oh sure, which is why it did so well when it aired.
>Episode 1, 4.55 million viewers
>Episode 34, middle of season 3 and last time it got aired, 1.08 million viewers.
Oops.
Well at least it did big numbers on Netflix!
>Dropped out of top 10 3 weeks in and vanished from the ratings until we saw the "What you're watching" excel, where it ended up around 400 rankings below Atla
Oops.

But I'm sure shippers love it and totally watch it instead of, like, fanfiction or something.

>>
>>154547326
Viewcount/salesfags are usually very autistic so people liking things they don’t just doesn’t compute
>>
>>154546128
>yet she remains extremely popular
The issue here is that's untrue. Hell Avatar itself isn't even popular nowadays. Zutara never happened, Aang never killed anyone, people grew up so it's mostly nostalgia "remember when?" moments, the movie cheapened things, the show cheapened things, the other movie cheapened things, the overwatch collab cheapened things, the fortnite collab got zoomer hype but otherwise cheapened things. Avatar isn't forgotten but it might as well be abandoned, despite all the attempts to wring out its status as Good Cartoon for further profit way too late to matter. Korra however doesn't matter to anyone other than a set of straight gooners wanting to feast on Korra and a set of gay coomers wanting to be Bolin's personal towel. None of that means extremely popular.

>What if I told you that “brown” was in reference to the colour of her skin, and not her perceived relationship to an ethnic group that she doesn’t belong to and doesn’t exist within her universe?
I would say that's irrelevant. She's red. A white person is not literally white. A black person is not literally black. Asians are not literally yellow, and native americans are not literally red. But these we call them anyway. Korra is red. She is not, nor has she ever been or will be, brown. And it is long past time that is recognized and embraced.

The guys here probably wanted an excuse to post a cosplayer to create a gapping circle, then people started discussing the question and show as normal angering the faggots that fap to this shit.

You ask a question in a fucking cartoon forum to disguise your gapping communal circle and then you get upset people discuss the question and the cartoon instead of gapping with you like you wanted, what do they expect? If the show sucked balls it is twice as likely to get discussed as their image dumps get ignored just because talking about something that sucked is far more interesting than cranking the hog.
>>
>>154546128
Avatar TLA is probably the single most popular, respected, and well done western animation ever put to broadcast.

Korra gets to take advantage of a lot of that fact. No matter how shit it was, it’s still Avatar 2

It kinda does if you actually knew anything about history.
Ever wonder why they stopped anyone from digging up those oh so sacred indian burial grounds? The bodies they were digging up were very....SWARTHY. The hair very wooly.
They'll never ever dig up a known indian burial ground and do a DNA test ever.
Now you know why.

It's literally only because she's hot. Probably also helps that she's hot AND has dark skin since dark skin characters are rare compared to characters with pale skin.

Actually plenty of them turned on it with hindsight for being "not enough representation" as if it weren't the most daring a (non adult) cartoon got with a gay couple at the time. And sure there's no hive minds but it feels deeply ironic because I remember it first being called out as some last minute pairing and the cope choir came out saying you'd understand if you noticed the ~signs that were there all along~. Oh well I'm not gonna mourn this show getting turned on and ditched.
>>
>>154548268
Typically don't feel anything for lesbians but these two characters were hot so I clapped, sure. The best relationship in that show though was the inventor and his secretary.
>>
>>154548441
>~signs that were there all along~
We were all watching the show with a "hetero lens" we just weren't gay enough, apparently.
>>
>>154546128
I fully agree that her show was shit, but I like TLOK setting with republic city much more than original. And honestly Korra isn't that bad as protagonist, she's constanly fuck things up, she's not ideal and perfect.
