Kirby was writing the Fourth World for 8 year olds. The thing is he respected 8 year olds way more than most series aimed toward actual adults respect adults.Probably the best written Darkseid and Orion we've gotten in a damn long time. We'd do best to enjoy it before that Mister Miracle show completely poisons his character completely with Kingslop.
Did anyone notice that these were written to blend into the main canon? Not stand-alone like basically every other DC YA book. That would explain why people see this as respectful.
