Are they really as big of hacks as anons say they are?
>>154592854The very definition of an "idea guy" like Lucas and Groening
>>154592859The most ironic thing in comparing people to George Lucas, is that he is the wrong guy to compare to. What do I mean? For one example, he wrote the final draft for Empire by himself (the movie all TRUE FANS glaze the most), with only some dialog being temp (for his friend to improve). The woman also credited for story helped write a much earlier draft (pre big plot twist) but she died and so George gave her credit anyway out of respect. It's the Avatar creators who are idea guys and cannot create a single season without heavy help.
>>154592963Honestly I always found George Lucas to be a guy more deserving of respect. Never really liked it when he got mocked on South Park either
>>154592854After Korra absolutely
>>154593319I keep flipfloppingmost recently I'm told that Star Wars was really only good because his wife re-edited it, and so he kept doing new versions to cut her out of the action after the divorce. but apparently it sucked until she fixed it
>>1545928541 second of lightning in a bottle followed by 18 buckets of liquid shit.
>>154592859Not even that. Their ideas sucked and were only good with other people there to refine the ideas while tard wrangling them. They had a lot of talented people working on ATLA, both experienced and newer talent. They did not have this on anything after ATLA but were able to do their own ideas more unfiltered and the results speak for themselves.
>>154592859Lucas has good ideas, just terrible execution. Never let the guy write dialogue.
>>154593319He gets too much "respect" from fanatics who irrationally worship his slop over objectively superior EU elements made without him
>>154593319>>154592963Lucas deserves more respect. People forget that he made THX and American Graffiti BEFORE he made Star Wars. The Prequels were a mess...not because of Lucas having more control but for logistical reasons and specific creative decisions. You can't even blame it on Lucas having "more" creative control because he's been a total obsessive over all of his movies, including Empire and Jedi.>the crew he had been working with from THX to Willow was no longer available: by the time the PT started, mostly everyone was retired, working on other projects, or dead>Lucas wanted other people to direct but they were afraid of screwing it up so they said no, meaning he had no choice but to do it>Lucas wanted the PT to be closer in tone/dialogue/visuals/set pieces to the pulp sci-fi books and many movies/film serials/radio shows that originally inspired the OT, even if it meant being janky/awkward/stilted/cornyIf anything, Bryke are the real hacks because they didn't really make anything else before ATLA, made nothing worth remembering after ATLA, and can't seem to make anything good when it comes to more ATLA.
>>154594963https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olqVGz6mOVEMarcia contributed to SW being a success, but she was not "the reason it turned out good". People purposefully leave out that she had worked on previous edits on the film with George....and they didn't turn out very good! It took several attempts to get the final product. But that's just filmmaking in a nutshell. You write, film, edit, and write, film, and edit until things finally turn out whole.
>>154592854I personally blame it on Bryke not having enough writing experience and clearly not reading enough books. You can always tell from people's appearances whether or not they habitually read or write.Even if you knew nothing about them, you can tell from their looks that they're directors and showrunners, good at managing. But terrible at actual storytelling.
>>154596524Nah, Lucas has decent execution. People forget that he and Kojima come from the same background as sci-fi nerds who read a shit ton of sci-fi and write sci-fi obsessively. It's common knowledge that sci-fi authors and sci-fi directors are a mixed bag when it comes to prose and dialogue but fantastic when it comes to pure imagination and creativity.https://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35430-essay-the-influences-of-the-star-wars-series-film-and-score/
>>154592854I wouldn't know; never seen ATLA or Korra.
>>154592854Define "hack."
>>154595092Calmdown
>>154600025only ATLA was goodevery other "great" idea they had was awful, be it the the live action adaptation, the comics, the sequel series, the OTHER live action adaptation, and a future sequel series that looks like it'll be shitbut at least the new Aang movie has amazing animation, shame about the voice acting though, Aang sounds too much like they want him to be like japanese Goku
Today I will remind them
>>154594963>and so he kept doing new versions to cut her out of the actionThis sounds like a sound theory until you actually research who did what and find out that he KEPT Marcia's contributions in the subsequent Special Editions.
>>154592859Groening at least knows to not actually write for his shows. Bryke insist on writing for their creations
>>154602133this doesn't make sense though because he wasn't bald when the show was airing
>>154592854Aaron Ehasz was obviously the one who made ATLA great
>>154594963Marcia herself said in an interview (in Icons Unearthed: Star Wars) that George didn't do the Special Editions to avoid paying her, because she says she still gets financial participation in those films.
>>154597216>Oh no no, you don't understand. The dialogue is SUPPOSED to be laughably terrible, because that's how it was way back when My guy, if even George admits he's terrible with dialogue, that should say something.
>>154592854It's cool that they keep ATLA so near and dear to their hearts, but what exactly is their plan moving forward? Just how much "story" is there left to tell, really?
>>154592854No, they are not. You're just jelly

>>154592854lol he bald
>>154602708not that obvious apparently
